And the verdict is in—Brian Long of Team Hunger Force wins Shonen Jump Championship Boston!

Armed with tech like Exarion Universe, Different Dimension Capsule, and three copies of Sakuretsu Armor in his main deck, Long fought his way through Paul Levitin and then his own teammate Brent Yetter. Once he survived those two strong duelists, he faced his greatest challenge yet: Team Overdose’s Bryan Coronel.

With no time limit, it was expected that the match would be a lengthy one. But Long flew out of the gates with an aggressive style reminiscent of play from years past, and a mix of luck and aggressive attitude led him to defeat Coronel two duels to nothing in record time.

All three of today’s successful teams distinguished themselves as veritable powerhouses, but only one could win. Brian Long and Team Hunger Force used some groundbreaking tech, incredible skill, and a bit of good fortune to put together the winning performance. Perhaps in Atlanta next month Scoop or Overdose will win the weekend, but for today the champ is Brian Long, and the much-sought-after Des Volstgalph is his!

It came down to this: Hunger Force in its first Shonen Jump Championship finals showing versus the powerhouse of Team Overdose. It was Brian versus Bryan, and this final match would decide which man, and which team, would claim their own Des Volstgalph.
It was Hunger Force versus Hunger Force and Overdose versus Overdose in the semifinals!
Bryan Coronel made it to the semifinals of Shonen Jump Championship New Jersey, and also made the Top 4 of Nationals 2005. Justin Gillison is a member of Team Scoop, and without a previous Shonen Jump Championship Top 8 under his belt, he was definitely the underdog in this matchup.

Both players were at risk in this match, each possibly on the bubble for Day 2.
Torossian and Cardenas had sat across from each other at Shonen Jump Championship Indy. In a tight match at the semifinal table, the unknown Torossian had brought down the veteran Cardenas. Now fate had afforded them a rematch!
As always, one of the coolest parts of Shonen Jump Championship Boston was the single card tech. The lone, flavor-heavy cards that form trends during an event are often some of the most high-impact cards of the weekend.
The controversial Roy St. Clair was up against one of the day’s favorites—Bryan Coronel of Team Overdose. This one has the potential to be a match for the ages.
Team Scoop has really made an impact here today, and with a 3-1 record, Quincy Gordon has been a major part of the action. The best record of the team? Certainly not. But the deck itself is fantastic.
It seemed as though Team Overdose had started setting up franchises. I sat down with team leader Shane Scurry, and found out that Team Scoop was more than just that.
Albert Wu is running a highly innovative Cyber Dragon/Cyber-Stein OTK deck. He was up against Metagame.com’s own Julia Hedberg, who was running an aggressive Beatdown deck flavored with Skill Drain.
Judge Adam Hamza recommended I check out Wu’s deck. I tried in round 1, but he was already gone by the time I arrived.
