Scrub Brush Winner: Chris Moosman
Julia Hedberg

It’s always exciting when we get a Scrub Brush winner who also finishes first and undefeated — we got that this time with Chris Moosman. Chris will go down in Seattle Shonen Jump history for his stylish photo poses, his undefeated day 1 record, and his Stein-less Prickle Fairy deck. He deserves it, so let’s move on to his interview!

What made you decide to sign up?

“I was going to try at Denver, but it wasn’t available there so I wanted to do it here.”

Did you think you’d win?

“Yeah I did! I took a bet with Ameen Bahar that I had to Top 4 to win his signed Necrovalley and twenty bucks.”

Was there a point when you knew you had it?

“Round 7 of 8!”

Why did you pick the deck you ran today? Did you have a second or third choice?

“I was trying many different decks, and this one was actually a last minute deck that I did. I tested for a couple of weeks, but that as the last one. I also thought of running a Machine burn. I was planning on running that, but my friend needed my side deck so I gave it to him.”

What was the worst play you saw this weekend?

“When I’d play my Banisher of the Radiance on the field, I’d play my Banisher on the field and 3 out of 5 of my opponents tried to launch their Wave-Motion Cannons.”

Did you come down with your team? How do you think the support of your teammates helped at the event?

I came down with my friend and his dad. Actually my team thought it was weird of me to run the deck I did. When I went undefeated though they accepted it — I was 5-0 and they were all, “Wow, good job!”

Got any shout outs?

My team! David, aka “Blunt”, and Gary and his dad. My parents for letting me go.”

Any plans to travel to future events?

“I’ll be at the next two, So Cal and and San Jose. Then I really want to go to Battle City in London; I know a lot of people there and I have a place to stay. I just need to get my passport.”

Chris’ performance was stellar yesterday, and he’s got the pictures to prove it. I’m looking forward to seeing him again in So Cal, along with all of his team — look forward to more news about them!
