Who saw this Top 4 coming? Donald Myers, playing an incredible combo-hate/monster control deck has breezed through the competition thus far in the tournament. He's playing for a Gold Sarcophagus, but standing in his way is Austin Ruggieri from team Top Control and his Perfect Circle deck. Donald won the die roll, both players wished each other luck, and play began.
Donald opened with a set spell or trap and a monster card. Austin fired back by playing Breaker the Magical Warrior, who fell into a Bottomless Trap Hole. Austin set a spell or trap before passing. Donald summoned a Breaker of his own and destroyed a chained Scapegoat. He flipped Treeborn Frog and took out two Sheep before passing with no spells or traps.
Austin was up now, and he played Reinforcement of the Army for Elemental Hero Stratos to search for Destiny Hero - Malicious. Stratos hit the Breaker and Austin passed. On his turn, Donald tributed Treeborn Frog for Cyber Dragon and attacked the Stratos. Austin was up now, and he summoned Snipe Hunter, discarding Malicious to destroy the Cyber. He attacked directly with the Snipe, set a spell or trap, and passed.
Donald brought back the Frog on his turn in attack mode and summoned D.D. Warrior Lady. He attacked the final two Sheep Tokens and passed. Austin drew and discarded Destiny Hero - Disk Commander to destroy the Warrior Lady before attacking the Frog, dropping Donald to 4900. During his draw phase, Donald played Mystical Space Typhoon on Mirror Force and brought his Frog back in attack mode. Creature Swap allowed him to take the Snipe and attack his own Frog. He passed, and Austin played Premature Burial to special summoned the Disk Commander. He tributed the Commander for Jinzo and attacked the Snipe before passing.
Donald brought his Frog back in defense mode, played Smashing Ground, and set a spell or trap. Mystic Tomato dropped from Austin to attack the Frog. He then set a spell or trap before passing. Donald set another monster on his turn, and Austin was up again. He used his turn to play Destiny Draw, discarding Destiny Hero - Fear Monger. He then removed Malicious from his graveyard to special summon another one from his deck. He tributed him for Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, targeting the monster. Bottomless Trap Hole was chained, but Austin flipped Call of the Haunted to block it by special summoning Jinzo! Austin's team of monsters attacked through for game.
Donald began the second game by setting a pair of spell or trap cards and a monster. Austin drew for his turn and activated Heavy Storm, destroying Bottomless Trap Hole and Pulling the Rug. He set a monster of his own and passed to Donald, who set another pair of spell or trap cards. Austin flipped Magician of Faith for Heavy Storm again, destroying two Sakuretsu Armors. He played Raiza the Storm Monarch and attacked for 2400. Donald was up, and he played Cyber Dragon and Mystic Tomato. The Tomato swung into Raiza, searching out Newdoria who also swung. Newdoria's effect took out Raiza, and Cyber connected for 2100.
Austin was up now, and he played Elemental Hero Stratos for Destiny Hero - Disk Commander. He then played Lightning Vortex, dropping the Commander and attacking for 1800. He set a spell or trap and passed to Donald, who set his topdeck and passed. It was revealed to be Call of the Haunted when Austin attacked next turn, and he special summoned Cyber Dragon. Austin set a monster and passed.
Donald drew Sasuke Samurai #4 and attacked the Stratos with Cyber Dragon. Sasuke attacked into a face down Destiny Hero - Fear Monger but missed his effect. Next turn Austin special summoned the Disk Commander and drew two cards before tributing him for Raiza the Storm Monarch, targeting the final face down spell or trap. Donald thought for some time before allowing it. Austin played Lightning Vortex and attacked directly for game!
