Pablo "Pabloseidon" Dorau and Jan "Daydreamer" Duda have to play against each other in round 2. They are supposed to be Hamburg's best duelists, so it's a pity for their fans that they have to meet each other this early in the tournament.
Dorau is also a member of the successful Team Royal, and he wants to make a huge impact in the tournament today. Both players said that they’re playing identical decks. When I asked who was going to be the favorite, Duda replied that he hadn't played for three months.
Dorau opted to start and Duda used his first chance to complain about his bad hand. After setting a spell or trap card, Dorau passed. Duda summoned Spirit Reaper, attacked directly, and discarded Premature Burial. Duda set a spell or trap card and passed.
Dorau summoned Cyber Dragon and attacked into Spirit Reaper, set another spell or trap card, and passed. Duda set a monster and switched Reaper to defense position. Dorau attacked with Cyber Dragon into the face down Twin-Headed Behemoth and passed after Twin-Headed hit the field again.
Duda considered his options for some time, summoned Exiled Force and tributed it for Cyber Dragon. He switched Spirit Reaper into attack position and attacked, but Scapegoat saved Dorau some damage and, even more importantly, a card in his hand. Two tokens got a heavy beating from Reaper and Twin-Headed Behemoth, and Duda set a spell or trap card and passed.
Dorau set a card to each zone and it was up to Duda again. He attacked into Mirror Force, set another monster and passed. Dorau summoned Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, destroyed a face-down Magician of Faith with the Monarch's effect and attacked, but Duda activated Enemy Controller. After setting a spell or trap card, Dorau was done with his turn. His opponent set two spell or trap cards and passed back.
Heavy Storm cleared the spell and trap zone, destroying Call of the Haunted on Dorau's side of the field and Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute, and Scapegoat on Duda's side, but not before four tiny Sheep tokens made an appearance on the field. Zaborg the Thunder Monarch destroyed one token, Duda set a spell or trap and passed, Dorau destroyed another token and set a spell or trap of his own.
Duda activated Call of the Haunted to bring back Exiled Force and tried to attack in one of his opponents token to gain card advantage, but Enemy Controller was activated in response and switched Exiled Force to Dorau's control. Duda tried to keep his Exiled Force and activated Swords of Revealing Light in main phase 2, Dorau set a monster, special summoned Chaos Sorcerer and Exiled Force was removed from the field.
Duda set another monster face down, then Dorau flip summoned Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, removed a token and passed. Duda flip summoned his own Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, then tributed for Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, destroying his opponent’s Zaborg with its effect and Chaos Sorcerer with an attack.
Dorau switched Dekoichi to defense position, activated Metamorphosis, morphing a Token into Thousand-Eyes Restrict, quickly taking control of Zaborg the Thunder Monarch. Swords of Revealing Light left the field, Duda passed without an action and after Thousand-Eyes Restrict's attack, Duda had no Token left to defend his Life Points. Duda passed without an action, Dorau attacked with Thousand-Eyes Restrict into Sakuretsu Armor, set a monster face down and passed.
Duda targeted the face-down Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive with Nobleman of Crossout, complained about his hand and Dorau quickly replied, that he has a Graceful Charity. Duda set a card to each zone, Dorau removed his opponents set Spirit Reaper with Nobleman of Crossout, summoned Sangan and attacked directly together with Dekoichi.
Duda summoned Breaker the Magical Warrior, attacked Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive and passed. Dorau felt like it was time to activate Graceful Charity, he discardet Torrential Tribute and Last Will. He checked Duda's graveyard, set a monster and passed. Duda still felt like complaining about his hand, activated Call of the Haunted to bring back a monster and tribute summoned Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, destroying a face-down Magician of Faith and attacked into Sangan, fetching Dorau a Twin-Headed Behemoth from his deck.
Dorau set a card to each zone, before he passed, Duda used his chance to activate Mystical Space Typhoon during the end phase to destroy the newly set Sakuretsu Armor and entered his turn. He attacked into Treeborn Frog and set a spell or trap card, Dorau summoned the Frog again, before tributing it for Blowback Dragon.
After two coin flips, Zaborg was out of the Dragon's way, but its attack was answered with Sakuretsu Armor. Duda complained for another time about his hand, passed and Dorau summoned the Frog again. He revealed Jinzo and Limiter Removal from his hand, and that was the game!
Dorau thought about boarding for some time and Duda quickly replied that he didn't want to change his deck. Dorau came to the conclusion that his deck was just fine and so game proceeded to the next duel.
Duda started the second duel and set a card to each zone. Dorau copied his opponents opening move and passed as well. Duda banged his fist on the table and still seemed to be annoyed.
He thought for a longer time about his opening hand and summoned Breaker the Magical Warrior, destroying Call of the Haunted with its effect. Breaker attacked into Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive and the earlier flip summoned Sangan hit Dorau directly for 1000 damage.
Dorau activated Heavy Storm and destroyed Torrential Tribute, special summoned Dekoichi with Premature Burial and tributed it for Zaborg the Thunder Monarch. Zaborg attacked, clearing out Duda's field completely, but fetching Exiled Force from Duda’s deck. After setting another spell or trap card, Dorau was done with his turn.
Duda summoned Cyber-Stein and activated its effect to special summon Cyber Twin Dragon, but Dorau responded with Bottomless Trap Hole. Duda seemed resigned already, and just set a spell or trap card and passed. Duda activated Last Will and Limiter Removal and asked about Dorau's hand. Dorau revealed Snatch Steal and Duda quickly scooped his cards.
Dorau is still on track to reach the finals after he defeated his opponent in a game that never seemed to be close.
