Reyez opened the first game with a face-down monster and a spell or trap. This was quickly revealed, as he played Ring of Destruction Nunez’s turn one D. D. Assailant. Nunez retaliated with Confiscation, robbing Reyez of a Blade Knight.
Reyez flip summoned D. D. Warrior Lady. He then tributed it for Jinzo, and attacked for 2400 points of damage. He set a spell or trap and passed the turn. Nunez activated Reinforcement of the Army for Exiled Force and tributed it to take out Jinzo. Reyez summoned Breaker the Magical Warrior, broke Nunez’s face-down Change of Heart, and attacked directly. Nunez gained some ground, attacking with Berserk Gorilla. It wasn’t enough though, as Reyez summoned Tribe-Infecting Virus, named Beast, and attacked to win the game.
Game Win: Gus Reyez
Game Two
Nunez opened with the traditional one-to-one face-down split. Reyez dinged the face down spell or trap, which was Bottomless Trap Hole, with Mystical Space Typhoon, then attacked with Enraged Battle Ox. The defender was D. D. Warrior Lady, so both monsters were removed. Reyez then used Reinforcement of the Army to bring The Creator Incarnate into his hand. He placed a Monster Gate face down, but it was broken during the next turn by Breaker the Magical Warrior. The Forceful Sentry kept Swords of Revealing Light out of Reyez’s hand, but left him with Airknight Parshath and The Creator Incarnate. Nunez set a spell or trap and passed the turn.
Reyez set a card in his spell or trap zone. A cautious Nunez attacked with Breaker, but the hit went through. He set a monster, and in his end phase, Reyez flipped the spell or trap. It turned out to be Dust Tornado, and it destroyed Nunez’s Scapegoats.
The Creator Incarnate was summoned and attacked into D. D. Assailant. Next turn the Assailant changed to attack mode and attacked the Incarnate, but was met with a Ring of Destruction. Breaker then attacked into the remaining monster, clearing both fields. Nunez set a monster, a spell or trap, and activated Mirage of Nightmare. Both players set a few cards and passed for several turns, sizing each other up, with the only casualty being a short-lived Mirage of Nightmare.
Nunez broke the pace first, attacking directly with Don Zaloog. Zaloog hit, costing Reyez a Snatch Steal. He shuffled his hand, set a card, and clucked his tongue a bit before passing the turn.
Nunez drew, flipped up Magical Scientist, summoned Ryu Senshi and Ojama King with its effect, and then summoned Berserk Gorilla. He attacked directly, and that was the game.
Game Win: Dwayne Nunez
Game Three
Reyez took the opening again, setting a single spell or trap. Nunez set two and passed the turn.
Reyez summoned Blade Knight and attacked, but Nunez flipped Scapegoat. Reyez decided not to attack any of the four sheep. Nunez set another spell or trap on his turn and passed. Reyez’s plan became clear as he summoned Airknight Parshath on his next turn. He announced an attack on a sheep, but Sakuretsu Armor took out the Parshath before lance could meet fur.
Nunez summoned Don Zaloog, and seeing that he was unopposed, looked to attack to gain some card advantage. Reyez flipped a Scapegoat of his own though, and blocked Don Zaloog’s attack. He set a Dust Tornado, but it in turn was Dust Tornadoed.
Nunez then used Reyez’s trick against him, sacking Don Zaloog for an Airknight Parshath and swinging through a sheep token. Reyez turned the tables yet again, as Enemy Controller brought the Parshath to his side next turn, giving him the means to swing through a sheep himself.
It would all come full circle: Nunez tried to attack with the Airknight and Reyez used Sakuretsu Armor to destroy it. It was an oddly symmetrical turn of events.
Nunez set a D. D. Assailant, but it was blasted away by a Raigeki Break paid for with a Sinister Serpent. Next turn, Nunez tried again to attack, this time with Tribe-Infecting Virus, and he attacked into the final sheep on Reyez’s side of the table. Reyez Snatch Stealed the Tribe-Infecting Virus, used Call of the Haunted on the Airknight, and looked to press damage through on the goats. Torrential Tribute wiped the field clean. Over the next two turns, both players used Heavy Storm to wipe each other’s fields. Nunez recovered first, building a bit of an offense. One Premature Burial later, it was Airknight and D. D. Warrior Lady against Reflect Bounder. Nunez attacked with the Airknight and then the Warrior Lady, putting the score at 2600 to 2400 in favor of Reyez.
Reyez surged back, Snatch Stealing the Warrior Lady and tributing it for Jinzo to take out the Airknight. Nunez ended up flipping Fiber Jar to try and gain an advantage.
Reyez opened strongly from the Fiber Jar, setting a Dust Tornado and activating a Swords of Revealing Light. He used the opening he afforded himself to buy a turn. It was his turn to use Fiber Jar and hopefully attack directly. He did, with Enraged Battle Ox, before setting two spells or traps. Nunez used Pot of Greed, summoned Exiled Force to take out the Ox, set two spells or traps and played Mirage of Nightmare. Reyez played a Pot of Greed of his own, but just set two spells or traps and passed. Nunez attacked with a Breaker but caught nothing but sheep, as Reyez activated Scapegoat. In the draw phase, Raigeki Break destroyed Mirage of Nightmare, and he passed. Nunez went on the defensive, setting a monster and turning Breaker to defense. Reyez passed his next turn. Nunez cleared Reyez’s spell and trap zone, summoned an attacker, played Call of the Haunted for another one, and attacked with everything. The life point totals were 900 to 200, with Nunez having four monsters on the field and Reyez with none.
Reyez topdecked Swords of Revealing Light, played it, summoned a Reflect Bounder, and took out Breaker with it. Nunez again turned his board to defense position. That was what Reyez needed. He summoned Enraged Battle Ox and Creature Swapped it, getting a D. D. Warrior Lady. He tributed the Warrior Lady for Mobius the Frost Monarch and attacked to win the game!
