11:45 AM: It’s the first ever Metagame.com Top 8 Scrub Brush Challenge!
Anyone can post on an online forum claiming that they will take a Top 8 spot at a Shonen Jump, but it takes a player with guts to make it official. This weekend, we’ll give these brave (or boastful) souls the chance to go on record before the world by taking the Top 8 Scrub Brush Challenge.
Players willing to take the challenge submitted their names, got their headshot, and offered the occasional succinct observation. If they make the cut and claim a spot in the Top 8, they will be rewarded with the chance to tell the world how amazing they are with a feature interview on Metagame.com. If they don’t make it, they agree to pose for a picture holding the soon-to-be-infamous Scrub Brush. If they run away without posing for their Scrub Brush picture, well . . . we have their headshots and we have Photoshop, and things could get scary.
With plenty of players here willing to operate under the assumption that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, we’re pleased to bring you this weekend’s competitors!
Andrew Bollinger (Zaryinoke): Creator of the Pac-Man deck
Mike Pianka: His initial guarantee of making the Top 8 today was the inspiration for the challenge.
Kris Perovic of Team Overdose: “Mike Pianka is doing this? Haha, he’s gonna be brushing his teeth with this scrub brush.”
Paul Levitin of Team Scoop
Joe Miller: Ranked second in Maryland, he said, “It goes on Metagame.com? Yeah!”
Ivan Flores of Team Rampage: “I’m gonna be brushing Paul’s hair with this!”
Cody Bodnar
Quincy Gordan of Team Scoop
Jimmy Pendarvis of Team Kong: He’s eight years old, and he made the Top 8 at the last area Regional.
Check back every other round or so for an update on how our competitors are doing! We’ve got nine competitors, so it’s a guaranteed Scrub Brush for at least one of them . . .
