Robert Morgan has made it into three Day 2 finishes at Shonen Jump Championships thus far in his short dueling career. Perovic has been to two Top 8s, a fact I checked with him.
“Two Top 4 finishes”, Perovic said, correcting me. Duly noted.
He won the roll and opened the match with two set spell or trap cards: a rather gutsy opening move. “Oh wow, I messed up,” he said. “I really did!” Morgan summoned Nimble Momonga, attacked directly, and scored a hit for 1000 damage.
Perovic summoned Exiled Force, tributed it to destroy Nimble Momonga, and then activated Last Will to special summon Cyber-Stein! He paid 5000 life points to bring out Cyber End Dragon, attacked for 4000 damage, followed up with an attack from Stein, and passed.
And then it was over. Morgan activated Heavy Storm, summoned Exiled Force, tributed it to destroy Perovic’s Cyber-Stein, and then activated Last Will himself! He used its effect to special summon Magician of Faith from his deck, then used Creature Swap to trade it to Perovic for his Cyber End Dragon. The only cards remaining on the field were the End Dragon controlled by Morgan, and the Magician of Faith Perovic had been stuck with. Cyber End Dragon attacked, and Perovic’s life points were devastated!
The first duel goes to Morgan in just three turns!
The second duel began just as quickly—Perovic slapped down Confiscation, smacking it hard onto his play mat. He revealed Morgan’s hand: Magician of Faith, Cyber Dragon, Treeborn Frog, Scapegoat, and Tsukuyomi. “What a trash hand.” He discarded the Scapegoat.
“You just Confi’d the worst hand ever,” Morgan smirked. “Congratulations.” Perovic ignored him, setting a monster and a spell or trap.
Morgan special summoned Cyber Dragon, normal summoned Treeborn Frog, and then traded the Frog to Perovic with a topdecked Creature Swap! Cyber Dragon attacked it, Perovic took 2000 damage, and Morgan passed with nothing in his back row.
Perovic summoned Exiled Force and used its effect to destroy his own Magician of Faith, which Morgan had pilfered. He passed, Morgan took back his Frog, and Cyber Dragon nailed Perovic again. Morgan set another monster, continuing to develop his field presence, and play passed to Kris. He set another monster and passed.
Morgan flip summoned Magician of Faith, took back his Creature Swap, and tributed his Frog for Zaborg the Thunder Monarch. Its effect destroyed Perovic’s set monster, Spirit Reaper, but when Morgan tried to attack for game Perovic flipped Waboku to prevent all the damage! Morgan passed.
Perovic set two spell or trap cards, then set a monster. “My go?” asked Morgan. Perovic nodded.
Morgan chose not to bring back his Treeborn. He activated Creature Swap, trying to trade his Magician of Faith, but Perovic chained Enemy Controller to tribute his set Chiron the Mage. He then chained Emergency Provisions to gain some life points. Once the dust cleared he wound up with the Cyber Dragon on his side of the field. Zaborg cleared it out.
Morgan summoned Tsukuyomi, turned down his Magician of Faith, and passed. It was 8000 to 3300 with Morgan leading.
Perovic summoned Mystic Swordsman LV2, and attacked Magician of Faith with it. He then set his last card to the spell and trap zone and passed. Morgan brought back his Treeborn Frog and attacked Mystic Swordsman LV2 with Zaborg. Perovic dropped to 1800 life points, and things looked grim . . .
. . . until he topdecked into Chaos Sorcerer! He brought it out, and removed Zaborg the Thunder Monarch from play! Morgan had the answer though, flip summoning Old Vindictive Magician to destroy the Sorcerer. Morgan summoned Tsukuyomi, turned Vindictive down, attacked with Tsukuyomi, and passed play to Perovic.
He summoned Sangan and rammed it into Old Vindictive. Sangan was destroyed, and Perovic used its effect to search for Magician of Faith. He then activated Last Will and brought a defense position Spirit Reaper to the field.
Morgan was unblinking. He summoned Tsukuyomi, turned Perovic’s Reaper face down, and then activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove it from the game. Tsukuyomi then hit directly, and the match was over.
Robert Morgan racks up a dominating win over Team Overdose’s Kris Perovic!
