Indianapolis Shonen Jump TCG Championship Series Tournament

Who doesn’t love an underdog?

First, he overcame Canadian star Matt Peddle. Then, he defeated Comic Odyssey’s Juan Cardenas. Finally, he conquered the same team’s Michael Fukuyama. Nareg Torossian has broken out of obscurity and gone straight into the spotlight—he’s the Shonen Jump Indy 2005 champion!

In a varied Top 8 that featured Goat Control but also saw impressive showings from Gravekeepers and Aggro Burn, Torossian’s win is especially impressive. Not a part of any major team, the Massachusetts duelist shocked onlookers by peeling through two of the game’s top players. He won game 1 of the finals, but he appeared beaten in game 2, until he scored an impressive comeback and demonstrated an incredible level of awareness.

For his outstanding efforts, he’s earned a brand new laptop, Yu-Gi-Oh! product, an invite to the 2006 U.S. Nationals, and a wealth of other prizes. But of course, the most impressive prize the day had to offer was the first-ever North American copy of Des Volstgalph, the thrilling new Shonen Jump Championship prize card!

The day is done, but more Shonen Jump Championships loom on the horizon! UDE’s Kevin Tewart has stated that Des Volstgalph will not be reprinted in a non-championship format for at least a year, so that means competition will be fierce for the mighty Dragon! Metagame.com will continue to bring you all the SJC action as the year progresses, and we’ll also bring you news of upcoming events and locations. Stay tuned all year round for more action!

410 duelists came down to this: two competitors remained, one from a barely-known team from Massachusetts and one from Team Comic Odyssey!
Torossian won the roll. He opened with a single spell or trap set and quickly ate an attack from Sangan.
With a top finish in Seattle and now a top finish here, Michael is definitely someone you don’t want to face when competing for the new Des Volstgalph prize card.
“I’m not on Comic Odyssey. I just really want to be on the team,” he said with a smile.
“I’m 75 percent sure that I’m going to the semis,” said Cardenas, in a rare show of self-confidence before Gessler arrived at the table.
In game 1, Nareg went first. He summoned Sangan to the field and set a spell or trap.
Shonen Jump Championship Indy will go down in history as an event that brought great change to the game.
Day 1

Judge Ken Jackson placed the match slip onto the feature match table, prompting Bryan Coronel to examine the one in his hand. “Oh. This isn’t mine.”
Evan Vargas, of constant Internet community fame and infamy, is the very vocal mouthpiece of Team Savage.
Every big event has a few pieces of tech—splashable, single cards that people are experimenting with either to expand and protect their own options or to hinder the opponent’s.
The world knows that Bryan Coronel failed to represent the United States at the recent World Championships in Japan. Though the root of the problem was a need for a passport renewal, laziness was not to blame. As soon as Coronel sat down, I got the complete story from the proverbial horse’s mouth.
Kevin Hor made very quiet news when he left Team Comic Odyssey a few months ago. I noticed something was up when he didn’t attend New Jersey.
Hugo Adame and Jae Kim are both longstanding members of Team Savage. Well-recognized figures in the Internet community, both are respected for their deck building and dueling skills. Today, only one was in attendance.
Upper Deck Entertainment’s Kevin Tewart was on hand to handle the unveiling personally, and once the player meeting began, he finally drew the long wait to an end. Without further ado, the new prize card is . . .
