This Week on Metagame.com
The Elemental Energy preview weeks are over, and we’re back to our regularly scheduled columns!
Mike Rosenberg leads off today, taking an extremely in-depth look at Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade. A synergistic equip spell card, Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade debuted in the Warrior’s Triumph Structure deck that hit store shelves this past month. Mike looks at it as a raw ATK pump, an addition to Armed Samurai – Ben Kei’s arsenal, and examines it under some more creative lights as well!
Jerome McHale picks up Mike’s ball and runs with it on Tuesday, departing from his usual focus to look at the three new cards released in Warrior’s Triumph. Not only will he share his own views on Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade, but Jerome will also check out Gilford the Legend and Warrior Lady of the Wasteland. The latter is of particular interest, as Jerome will show you how the Lady is a lot more than just a stunted version of Giant Rat.
Next, I’ll take a look at an interesting deck that caught my eye. Focused on exploiting Ectoplasmer, Wednesday’s subject uses the under-played spell to not just regulate the field, but also to create an astounding draw engine that’s capable of easily doubling or tripling your number of draws per turn. How does one accomplish such with a relatively unpopular continuous spell? Tune in Wednesday for the answer to that question, and an interesting decklist to boot.
On Thursday, Curtis will conclude his series on Elemental Heroes rulings by looking at the new Elemental Hero cards from Elemental Energy. Are you eager to play with Elemental Hero Wildheart, or maybe you’d like to try out some of the new support cards, like Feather Shot and Hero Barrier? Make sure to read Curtis’s article before you start putting together a deck—his tips will help you get the most out of your new Elemental Hero cards.
Julia Hedberg will follow up with a Solid Ground column on Friday that you veterans might want to check out. Have you ever wondered how to get an interview at a Shonen Jump Championship? Want to know what makes a good interview, and how you can make you or your team look impressive? Maybe you’ve got a killer deck in mind, and you want it to see the spotlight it deserves when you finally bring it to a tournament. Julia’s article will teach you how to improve your chances of getting coverage at a major event, and how to look good when you’re in the hot seat.
Finally, Jae Kim rounds out the scheduled week with the first in a series of deckbuilding guides. Elemental-themed strategies are much more viable in the current Advanced format, and with that fact in mind, Jae will spend six weeks looking at the key cards that are central to attribute-themed decks. This week, Jae starts off the series with a look at Fire decks. If you think they’re unplayable, his article will make you think again.
Be sure to check back each week, as we may have some surprises in store for you in addition to our scheduled articles. The individual card previews may be over, but the impact of Elemental Energy is just beginning, and Metagame.com is your ticket to the cutting edge of strategy and tech!
