Time to look in again and see what’s happening with our brave competitors today!
Dale Bellido is at Table 16 with 3 wins, playing Kenneth Chow.
Russell Melia is at Table 31 with 2 wins, playing Aaron Noel.
Andrew Hayton is at Table 1 with 4 wins, playing Brad McLean [this round’s feature match!]
Jason Grabher-Meyer is sitting at the feature match table, doing coverage. He works pretty hard.
Richard Clegg is at Table 9 with 3 wins, playing Nickolas Theroux.
Matt Bishop — SCRUBBED!
Eric Cardoso is at Table 20 with 2 wins, playing Matthew Slawvey.
David Bui is at Table 35 with 2 wins, playing Chris Simoes.
There are only 2 rounds left . . . Andrew is as-yet undefeated, and Richard Clegg is still hanging in there. I’ll bring you an update once the final round is over!
Scrub Brush Challenge Update — Round 3!
Hmm, let’s see . . . there are only eight competitors. Let’s see how they’re doing, shall we?
Dale Bellido is at Table 1 with 2 wins, playing Chris Simoes.
Russell Melia is at Table 28 with 1 win, playing Brett Taylor.
Andrew Hayton is at Table 2 with 2 wins, playing Alexander St-Louis.
Jason Grabher-Meyer is sitting at the feature match table, doing coverage. He decided not to enter then drop immediately for the mat, because it might adversely affect someone’s tiebreakers.
Richard Clegg is at Table 6 with 2 wins, playing Marlon Lakhan.
Matt Bishop — SCRUBBED! Already!?
Eric Cardoso is at Table 28 with 1 win, playing Maxim Guillote.
David Bui is at Table 22 with 1 win, playing Nickolas Theroux.
We’ve already got one scrub and one competitor that actually didn’t end up entering the event, but there are still three undefeated. Check back after Round 5 to see if anyone’s still in the running!
Scrub Brush Challenge: One More Time
Well, lots of people (many of them Canadian) claim that Canadian players are among the best in the world. Only one of them is going to San Diego, but, since we really should showcase all this amazing talent, we figured we’d revive the Scrub Brush Challenge one final time — because, let’s be honest, you’ll never find a finer display of raw Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG talent than a bunch of people who can’t all possibly make the cut to Top 8 — although, for the first time ever, we’ve only got eight people in the Challenge!
Let’s meet our competitors!
Dale Bellido is 20 years old, from Missisauga, Ontario. He’s representing Team Superfriends, and he’s still setting a high standard in hairstyles.
Russell Melia is 20 years old, from Kingston, Ontario. He’s representing Team Delinquent Duo, and qualified for Nationals yesterday, playing Perfect Circle for the first time.
Andrew Hayton is 21 years old, and just moved to Brantford, Ontario. He’s representing Team Superfriends. He is also the face of Canadian Nationals.
Jason Grabher-Meyer is 23 years old, from Toronto, Ontario. He’s not on a team, although he should consider a lucrative endorsement deal from Lush. He’s really got no way of winning because he can’t actually participate . . . but he did qualify, and he really wants a Cyber Dragon mat.
Richard Clegg is 18 years old, from Hamilton, Ontario. He’s representing Team Tweak, and is a previous Scrub Brush Challenge winner!
Matt Bishop is 18 years old, from Toronto, Ontario. He’s here as a Brave Individual, and hasn’t played Yu-gi-Oh! in about a year.
Eric Cardoso is 18 years old, from Toronto, Ontario. He has a team with no name, and he likes pens. He’s really just up here to take pens.
David Bui is 19 years old, from Peterborough, Ontario. He’s representing Team Delinquent Duo, and brought me a dutchie for breakfast today. His Don Zaloog collection has reached 42.
