If you’ve been reading Metagame.com at all, then you are familiar with Team Overdose: a collection of some of the best players in North America who can consistently place well at top-level events with decks that define local, regional, national, and global metagames (metagames that are in a constant state of flux and often to the tune of one of their decks).

The players representing this team at the event are Adam Corn, Shane Scurry, Anthony Alvarado, Rymus Lizo, Paul Levitin, and Kris Perovic. As I am typing this, round 7 has finished up and Anthony, Shane, Adam, and Kris have a loss each. With the advent of the new format, many players have been looking for the new deck to play and beat, the one that will define the metagame for the first few months of our new banlist.  Team Overdose may be playing that deck today. Adam Corn and Shane Scurry each hold a Dark Armed Dragon deck which has proven to be potent. Anthony Alvarado and Kris Perovic are piloting builds of DDT with the Dragon present. Paul Levitin, in true Paul Levitin fashion, is piloting a budget Gladiator Beast build, and Rhymus a Gadget deck. From their records, it becomes apparent that the powerhouse duelists are piloting a potent deck build, and it will be interesting to watch—tomorrow and through the next few months—to see how decks suit themselves to best the Dark Armed builds piloted by Overdose today.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you have to acknowledge that today, they are showing everyone what to expect in the months to come. Watch Adam Corn and Shane Scurry in particular as they pilot monstrously successful decks to excellent records, and check both them and representatives from Yugioh ETC, Enigma, and Superfriends for new emerging trends and anti-meta decks.
