Day One Introduction
Jason Grabher-Meyer

Last week, the Yu-Gi-Oh! community was rocked by the announcement of the game’s new Limited list. With several old favorites like Magical Scientist and D. D. Warrior Lady restricted or eliminated entirely from Advanced format play, duelists have been posed with a unique challenge that will demand a new metagame—new decks, new strategies, new tactics, and the opportunity for new champions!

However, those changes won’t be in effect until April 1, and in the meantime, the current Advanced format will haveone last mighty hurrah. Today is the fourth stop in the Shonen Jump Championship Series, and we are live from Orlando, Florida, bringing you all the news on decks, teams, the hottest personalities, and the newest tech. Will D. D. Assailant continue to dominate the format? How will the anticipation of Flaming Eternity impact the format before its release? Will Beastdown or Lockdown Burn finally take a Championship, or will something new emerge from the field? Can anyone stop Team Comic Odyssey’s rampage? Who will rise, who will fall, and who will claim the ultimate prize, walking away with a copy of Cyber-Stein?

367 of Florida’s finest duelists braved the pouring rain to attend Orlando’s first Shonen Jump Championship. Round 1 has begun, and a myriad of local champions have mixed with some of the best-known Yu-Gi-Oh! duelists in North America to form today’s field. Fan favorites like American Champion Theeresak Poonsombat, Shonen Jump Championship Las Vegas winner Wilson Luc, and Juan Cardenas have mingled with Rob Leander and hundreds of local players to create one of the most competitive environments yet.

Level 3 head judge Simon Sangpukdee kicked off today’s monster-smashing festivities and announced a few more cool details in conjunction with the event’s PTO, Jeff Williams. Door prizes are being given out randomly, and at a time when Flaming Eternity packs are ridiculously scarce throughout North America, random players exemplifying good sportsmanship will be rewarded with boosters of Flaming Eternity over the course of the day.

Energy is high and the players are itching to duel. Stay with Metagame.com as we update throughout the day!
