Yesterday we saw a stunning fifteen Teleport Dark Armed duelists and one Lightsworn competitor make the cut to the Top 16. The TeleDAD field isn’t what you’d expect: innovators like Henry Su, Mark Borden, and Chris Bowling have taken the deck in surprising new directions, and are sure to set trends for the coming weeks. Welcome to Day 2 of Shonen Jump Championship Charlotte!
Coverage today will likely revolve around the success (or lack thereof) of the innovative players in contention here today. Thanks to Mark Borden, Light and Darkness Dragon has returned to the top tables—a very strong card in the TeleDAD mirror match. Henry Su has evolved Synchro Dude into a totally new beast, playing Lightning Vortex, Diamond Dude, and Mind Control cards alongside new picks like Magical Mallet. And Chris Bowling has had enough of opening hands packed with Emergency Teleport cards and copies of Krebons—he made the shocking decision yesterday to run only two copies of each to prevent bad opening hands, and the gambit paid off.
Will these innovative choices generate wins here today, or will they fall flat? Can Lightsworn score an against-all-odds victory, or will TeleDAD reign supreme yet again? We’ll answer those questions and many more over the next few hours.
