Pittao won the opening roll and opened the first duel with Confiscation! Scurry showed a hand of Graceful Charity, Cyber Dragon, Dust Tornado, Chaos Sorcerer and Airknight Parshath. Pittao discarded Graceful Charity from Scurry’s hand, set a card to each zone, and passed.

Scurry summoned Cyber Dragon, hit Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, Pittao drew a card, and Scurry set a spell or trap. Pittao flipped Smashing Ground to destroy the Dragon, set a monster, and ended his turn. Scurry set a monster, passed, Pittao flipped Magician of Faith to take back Confiscation, used Metamorphosis to trade his Magician of Faith for Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and inhaled Scurry’s set Skelengel! He then tributed Thousand-Eyes Restrict for Mobius the Frost Monarch, destroyed Dust Tornado, and attacked directly for 2400! He played the Confiscation, saw Snatch Steal, Airknight, and Sorcerer, and discarded Snatch Steal! He set one spell or trap and passed.

Scurry set a spell or trap, and ate 2400 directly from Mobius. Pittao set a monster, Scurry flipped his set Nobleman of Crossout, hit Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, and each player removed the copies from their decks. Scurry set another spell or trap and passed.

Pittao wasn’t buying it. He swung with Mobius again, and Scurry went down to 800 life points. Pittao set a monster, Scurry set a monster, and Pittao flipped Magical Merchant to get Sakuretsu Armor. He played Graceful Charity, discarded Night Assailant and Torrential Tribute, and took back Dekoichi with Night Assailant’s effect. Pittao then tributed the Merchant for Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, and Scurry was done for!

After Scurry finished side decking, Pittao extended his hand across the table for a respectful shake. The second duel began.

Scurry opened with a set spell or trap and nothing else. Pitta played Confiscation again, seeing Cyber Dragon, Asura Priest, Nobleman of Crossout, Kycoo, and Chaos Sorcerer. Pittao shook his head, not liking what he saw. He eventually settled on discarding Scurry’s Nobleman of Crossout. He set one spell or trap and passed. Scurry flipped Dust Tornado in the end phase, costing Pitta Bottomless Trap Hole!

Sangan hit Scurry’s side of the table and nailed Pittao for a grand. Scurry passed, Pittao set a back row card, Sangan nibbled for another 1000, and Scurry set a monster. Pittao passed back, Scurry flipped Dekoichi, and both monsters attacked for 2400. Scurry played Confiscation, revealed Breaker the Magical Warrior, Smashing Ground, Mobius the Frost Monarch, Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, and Chaos Sorcerer. Breaker was discarded. The life point totals were 2600 to 7000 with Scurry in the lead, and both players now had all-monster hands.

Scurry set a third monster and ended his turn. Pittao passed back, Scurry flip summoned Asura Priest, and attacked. Sakuretsu Armor destroyed the Priest, but Sangan and Dekoichi hit directly, making the life point totals 7000 to 200. Pittao drew and after a second’s thought, scooped. Another duel was completed in under five minutes flat.

Game 3 began, and Pittao opened with a set card to each zone. Scurry summoned Breaker, broke Sakuretsu Armor, and attacked into Spirit Reaper. He played Enemy Controller to blow it away, set a back row card, and ended his turn.

Pittao set a monster, then set two spell or trap cards. Scurry flipped Dust Tornado, hitting Mystical Space Typhoon, and drew for his turn. Breaker attacked, and Pittao was forced to flip Mirror Force to destroy it! Scurry set Sangan and ended his turn. Pittao set a second monster, a spell or trap, and passed.

Sangan attacked the monster Pittao had protected, hitting Magician of Faith. It got Mystical Space Typhoon for Pittao. Scurry set a card to each zone, Pittao flipped Skelengel, tributed it for Mobius, but Scurry flipped Bottomless Trap Hole. Pittao chained Torrential Tribute to clear the entire field. Scurry pulled D. D. Warrior Lady with his destroyed Sangan, and the other monster he lost was Skelengel.

Pittao set a spell or trap, passed, and Scurry hit with D. D. Warrior Lady, ending his turn with no back row. Pittao special summoned Chaos Sorcerer, removed D. D. Warrior Lady from play, set a monster, and ended his turn. Scurry summoned a Sorcerer of his own, removed Pittao’s from play, and set Spirit Reaper. Pittao flipped Magical Merchant, got Smashing Ground with its effect, and used Graceful Charity. He pitched Mobius and Spell Shield Type-8, used the Smashing to destroy Scurry’s Sorcerer, blew away his Reaper with Nobleman of Crossout, and hit directly with Magical Merchant. He set his last card in hand, a monster, and ended his turn.

Scurry set a card to each zone, but lost his set Book of Moon to Mystical Space Typhoon in the end phase. Pittao flipped Magical Merchant, got Heavy Storm, and looked at his field: two little cockroach salesmen were all he had. He attacked with the first, hitting Scurry’s Night Assailant, and the Assailant destroyed the other Merchant. Pittao brought out Chaos Sorcerer from his hand in main phase 2, removed the Assailant, and passed.

Scurry set a spell or trap and passed back. Pittao played Heavy Storm, but Scurry chained Call of the Haunted, to bring back Sangan and get Magician of Faith. The Sorcerer attacked Scurry directly. Scurry set a card to each zone and passed.

Metamorphosis traded Merchant for Thousand-Eyes Restrict on Pittao’s side, and Thousand-Eyes Restrict inhaled Scurry’s set monster. Scurry played Smashing Ground and ended his turn. Pittao passed. Scurry passed, and Pittao passed again. Another pass from Scurry followed, Pittao passed back, Scurry passed, and Pittao finally set a monster (before passing again).

Scurry played Nobleman of Crossout on the set monster, hitting Dekoichi, and forcing both players to remove copies from their decks. Scurry passed, Pittao set another monster, plus a spell or trap, and ended his turn. Scurry passed again.

Pittao played Confiscation, revealing two Cyber Dragon, Kycoo, Heavy Storm, and Chaos Sorcerer in Scurry’s hand. Pittao discarded Chaos Sorcerer and ended his turn. The life point totals were 5200 for Chris to Scurry’s 5500.

Scurry passed, Pittao passed, Scurry passed, Pittao passed, Scurry passed, and Pittao shook his head at his hand. He set a monster, ended his turn, and Scurry set a second back row card, then a third. Pittao shook his head again, passed, and Scurry flipped Dust Tornado to destroy Pittao’s one set, which was Sakuretsu Armor.

Scurry had a huge out of play pile, but the Thousand-Eyes Restrict was keeping him locked down. Even if one of his two set cards was Return from the Different Dimension, it wouldn’t do him any good until that Thousand-Eyes was dealt with. He set one card to his back row and passed.

Pittao summoned Sangan, played Book of Moon on Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and hit for 1000 with Sangan. Scurry took the hit. Pittao set another back row card, giving him one set spell or trap again, and ended his turn. Scurry special summoned Cyber Dragon, normal summoned Asura Priest, and lost it to Bottomless Trap Hole. Scurry fingered a set Torrential Tribute, debating whether or not to play it. He did, destroying Treeborn Frog, Twin-Headed Behemoth, Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and the Sangan. Pittao took Magician of Faith with Sangan, and Scurry passed. It was a terrible field to Torrential.

Another set monster hit Pittao’s side of the table, and he set two cards to his spell and trap zone before ending. Nobleman of Crossout removed his one set, and Pittao was not happy as he lost his Magician of Faith. Scurry set a monster, a third spell or trap, and passed. Mystic Swordsman LV2 hit Pittao’s side of the field, and the knife-wielding midget crashed into Sakuretsu Armor. Pittao set a third card to his back row and ended.

Brain Control stole his Twin-Headed Behemoth, and Scurry tributed it away for a face down monster. Pittao tributed his frog for Zaborg, destroyed Scurry’s freshly set Cyber Dragon, but lost the Zaborg to Bottomless Trap Hole. Pittao played Call of the Haunted, but Scurry chained Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it. Scurry set a monster and ended his turn, devoid of a back field. The life points stood at 5200 to 3700 in Pittao’s favor.

Pittao played Premature Burial, dropping to 4400. Pittao wasn’t eager to over-extend: he knew Scurry still had Snatch Steal in his deck or in his hand. He brought back Mystic Swordsman LV2, and destroyed Scurry’s set with it, which turned out to be Kycoo. He summoned Tsukuyomi, turned Mystic Swordsman LV2 face down, and passed to Scurry.

Scurry played Confiscation, costing Pittao Snatch Steal! All he had left was Tsukuyomi Scurry played Heavy Storm, costing Pittao Bottomless Trap Hole and Sakuretsu Armor! Scurry was at 1900 after he activated Premature Burial, while Pittao still had 4400 life points.

Scurry agonized over his pull, eventually choosing Magician of Faith?! He attacked with it, hitting into the Swordsman and destroying it. Pittao only had one card left in his deck, and Scurry passed!

Pittao drew his final card, and revealed it to Scurry as Smashing Ground! It wouldn’t help him, and he had no cards remaining in his deck! A turn away from decking out, Pittao offered Scurry the handshake.
