In about three weeks, the very first Sneak Preview event for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game will take place in numerous stores across the country (and a few outside of the United States). This Sneak Preview event will give duelists a chance to see the next Yu-Gi-Oh! set, Rise of Destiny. However, while the Sneak Preview event will give all duelists a peek at the entire set, those who visit Metagame.com can see some cards before this fun event.
Today’s sneak preview card is a nasty little monster with an effect that may remind expert duelists of the Pharaonic Guardian card Mucus Yolk. This monster is RDS-EN020 (The English name is not yet known).
Level: 3
ATK: 100
DEF: 200
Attribute: FIRE
Type: Pyro
Effect: This monster can attack your opponent’s life points directly. If this monster successfully attacks your opponent directly, increase this monster’s ATK by 1000.
With the loss of spell and trap removal in the Advanced format and the restriction of Mystical Space Typhoon, this little annoyance will drive your opponent crazy when it’s combined with stall cards such as Messenger of Peace and Level Limit- Area B. This monster’s strength is incredibly low at first, but after two direct attacks, this monster is stronger than a Berserk Gorilla. Combine it with Molten Destruction and it’s stronger than Jinzo!
This monster is a nice addition to any deck focusing on direct attacks, especially decks that include cards like Robbin’ Goblin. The damage you deal is insignificant at first, but this monster’s effect begins to put some serious pressure on your opponent. If they don’t destroy this little pyro fast, they’re going to have to deal with a powerhouse.
If you’re considering using this card in the main Sneak Preview event, then be sure to have a high-level monster out first. If you have a monster with strong ATK out and summon this monster, your opponent will either:
Have a monster attack and destroy this monster, leaving it open for your high-level monster to smash during your turn.
Continue to let this monster attack directly, until it reaches a strength that cannot be overpowered in the Limited event.
Obviously, your opponent will have to destroy this monster quickly, or else he or she will lose in a matter of three or four turns. This makes RDS-EN020 into a nasty trap that will force your opponent to step in it.
