Kings Games Announces Invasion Of Chaos Premier Tournament Weekend in New York City

Slated to Be the Largest Independent Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Event Ever

February 12, 2004 (Brooklyn, NY)—Kings Games, an Upper Deck™ Premier Tournament Organizer in Brooklyn, New York, announced today that it will be hosting an Invasion of Chaos (IOC) Premier Tournament Weekend on March 6–7, 2004.

The IOC Premier Tournament Weekend will take place in the Grand Ballroom of The New Yorker Hotel, located at 481 Eighth Avenue, across the street from Madison Square Garden. The venue can seat over 300 players at a time, and over 500 players are expected to attend over the course of the weekend.

Invasion of Chaos is the latest expansion for best-selling Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG). Although it will not be available in stores until March 15, fans will get a unique opportunity to preview and play with the new cards two weeks in advance. Players will be treated to a series of tournaments and events over the course of the weekend.

The IOC Premier will begin at 9 a.m. and last throughout the weekend, played in a format of 32-player tournaments. Each player will receive three booster packs of IOC and will then build a 20-card minimum deck to play with. The Top 4 players in each tournament will win additional prizes.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, Upper Deck Entertainment will also launch the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Scholarship Series. The first tournament in the series, it will award two players with a $500 college scholarship each.

The largest tournament of the weekend is sure to be the Yu-Gi-Oh! Regional Championship that will begin at noon on Sunday, March 7. The Top 4 players will qualify to participate in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG U.S. National Championship, scheduled to take place in Ohio this summer. In this Regional event only, the Top 4 players will also win sponsorship for the cost of their airfare to Nationals.

“We are very excited about an opportunity to launch these new programs,” said Kings Games owner Alex Shvartsman. “We worked closely with Upper Deck to accomplish our initial goal of creating the largest independent Yu-Gi-Oh! event ever held. With so many wonderful opportunities offered to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans this weekend, I am confident it will be a tremendous success.”

Scott Elliott, Organized Play Program Manager for Upper Deck Entertainment will be attending the event.
