Clashing in today's Top 8 feature is Overdose Heavy Hitter, Anthony Alvarado. Having Top 8'd multiple Shonen Jump Championships and emerged on top in Charlotte, Anthony Alvarado now has his work cut out for him. He's up against some hidden Canadian talent, Corey Faibish. Known for playing the anti-meta, including his Top 8 finish at Canadian Nationals 2005 with Soul Control, Cory stormed through day 1 with a Cyber-Stein OTK deck. Anthony is playing a much more original Zombie-tech build. Unfortunately, he lacks the side deck cards for Cory's deck. It's going to be an uphill battle all the way, but, if anyone can pull it out, it's Alvarado.

Anthony won the roll and opened with a set spell or trap. Cory summoned Sangan and attacked for 1000, set a spell or trap and passed to Anthony. Sangan is an especially tough monster for Anthony to deal with, since it can search Cyber-Stein. He passed without making a move, and Cory capitalized. He flipped Heavy Storm, summoned Cyber-Stein, paid 5000 for Cyber Twin Dragon, and attacked for game!

Anthony opened game 2 with a set spell or trap. Cory fired back with two set spell or traps and passed right back. Anthony flip summoned Sangan and attacked for 1000 before passing. Cory summoned Cyber-Stein, used priority, and chained Torrential Tribute! Alvarado searched out Exiled Force with Sangan, but it was a moot search. Cory simply chose Cyber End Dragon with his Stein, equipped it with Megamorph and attacked for game. Anthony's Scapegoat couldn't hold off the storm and that was the match.

Cory admits that although he had an awesome matchup, it was necessary to pull out a win within the first few turns. Otherwise he ran the risk of Alvarado's big beaters dropping Corey's life points below 5000.
