Scrub Brush Challenge Hamilton – The Aftermath

Well, today marks a first — we had two competitors win the challenge this time! Two more came in close — 10th and 15th place — so all in all we had a quality lot of players this time. Congrats to our brace of winners — don’t miss their featured interviews tomorrow — and, in the meantime, enjoy the Parade of Shame!

Andrew Hayton gets some assistance from Head Judge Jeff. Ouch, looks like Jeff’s putting some muscle into it!

Alex Dupuis gives his tie a good scrubbing.

Richard gleefully scrubs his less-successful teammate, John Redbird.

Dana Harripersad had a great time taking the challenge, and he scrubs quite happily.

David Bui was off to such a good start — ah well, at least his teammate Russell is there to help with the scrubbing!

And David is happy to return the favor, scrubbing Russell Melia to a blinding polish.

Judge Carlos threatened to scrub these guys good if they didn’t make it — looks like Mike Ibrahim is taking a heck of a scrubbing there!

Dharmish Patel can’t escape, even though he came in very close — Carlos gets him too!

Alex Vansant gets plenty of help to take his scrubbing . . .

Brandon Colburn tries out a new look . . .

And Emon gets a bit carried away with his scrub . . .

We’re missing a few of our competitors, and if we can’t get them tomorrow, we’ll just have to do something to their pictures, now won’t we?

Anyways, here are the final standings. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Anthony Alvarado — Finished in 8th place, and wins the Challenge!

David Bui
— Finished in 56th place — he was off to a good start though.

Richard Clegg
— Finished in 2nd place, and wins the Challenge!

Brandon Colburn
— Finished in 234th place. He did very well in side events, though.

Alex Dupuis
— Finished in 414th place, but he did drop after round 2.

Ivan Flores
— Finished in 91st place, and didn’t eat any match slips.

Emon Ghaneian
— Finished in 49th place – but he did stick it out to the end.

Dana Harripersad
— Finished in 299th place, but he did it with Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Andrew Hayton
— Finished in 102nd place. You can’t win ‘em all.

Mike Ibrahim
— Finished in 128th place, and was duly punished by Judge Carlos.

Russell Melia
— Finished in 95th place, and scrubbed with style!

Carlo Palazzo
— Finished in 238th place, much lower than he did in Atlanta.

Dharmish Patel
— finished in 10th place — so close!

Kris Perovic
— finished in 27th place, too bad he had to play Anthony in the final round.

John “Schmee” Redbird
— Finished in 58th place, in his second attempt at the Challenge.

Alex “Thunderpants” Vansant
— finished in 15th place — still a respectable showing.

Brent Yetter
— Finished in 158th place, still needs to shave.

The Challenge will be back in Boston — don’t miss it, and if you want to compete, make sure you show up early!

Scrub Brush Challenge Update — Round 7!

Now then, who’s still in the running? There are only 2 rounds left in today’s event, so let’s find out who has a chance at glory, and who’s going to meet a painful and/or embarrassing fate . . .

David Bui is at table 50 with 4 wins, and is playing Nick Georgizas.

Scrub Brush Challenge — Shonen Jump Hamilton

All right, we’ve got our own USA vs. Canada thing going on here . . . a pretty good mix, but can any of our competitors pull it off? What this lot doesn’t realize is that I left the original Scrub Brush at home (too much traveling lately) so I had to get a replacement at Wal-Mart last night . . . and it’s a serious instrument of torture. I think this kind of brush is made for scouring highways or something . . .

Anyways, what they don’t know won’t hurt them (until later) so let’s meet today’s lineup! In alphabetical order, we’ve got:

Anthony Alvarado — 19 years old, he’s from New Jersey and representing Team Overdose.

David Bui
— 18 years old, he’s from Peterborough Ontario, and should know that I’m not going to put up his team name on Metagame. (He voted against it.)

Richard Clegg
— 18 years old, he’s from Hamilton, Ontario, and he’s representing Team Jaguar. He’d like everyone to know they stole the name from Dale Bellido.

Brandon Colburn
— 17 years old, he’s from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he’s representing Team Off Constantly. There’s quite a story behind the name.

Alex Dupuis
— 27 years old, he’s from Ottawa and is here as a Brave Individual. He also brought me a dutchie!

Ivan Flores
— 22 years old, he’s from Connecticut and is representing Team Hunger Force. Team Rampage should be back up soon, though.

Emon Ghaneian
— 18 years old, he’s from California and is representing Team Overdose.

Dana Harripersad
— 17 years old, he’s from Airdrei, Alberta and is here as a Brave Individual.

Andrew Hayton
— 20 years old, he’s from Windsor and is representing Team Superfriendz. The “z” makes it new and improved.

Mike Ibrahim
— 14 years old, he’s from Michigan and is representing Team Akura.

Russell Melia
— 20 years old, he’s from Kingston, Ontario and is representing the same team as David Bui. I won’t print it for him, either . . .

Carlo Palazzo
— 14 years old, he’s from New Jersey and is representing Team Prodigy.

Dharmish Pate
— 17 years old, he’s from Michigan and is representing Team Akura.

Kris Perovic
— 20 years old, he’s from New Jersey and is representing Team Overdose. He’s only taking the challenge because he’s getting paid.

John “Schmee” Redbird
— 15 years old, he’s from Hamilton, Ontario and is representing Team Jaguar. Dale Bellido better do something about that.

Alex “Thunderpants” Vansant
— 15 years old, he’s from Michigan and is representing Team S.

Brent Yetter
— 16 years old, he’s from Delaware and is representing Team Hunger Force.

There you have it — we’ve several competitors here that we’ve seen in previous challenges as well as a few new faces. Who’s going to take it? Will Canada successfully defend the home turf in the first-ever Canadian Shonen Jump, or will an American sneak in and steal the glory? Check back every few rounds, for an update on how our competitors are faring!
