Anaheim Shonen Jump TCG Championship Series Tournament
Metagame Staff

In a day 2 field where the winner of a single Top 16 was supposed to be “guaranteed” to win the event, imagine the surprise that the dueling world felt when Theerasak Poonsombat lost in the semifinals to Chris Bowling. Even then Chris Bowling couldn’t seal the deal, as he fell to Michael Songloke’s Demise OTK in the finals. Before this event, no one had ever heard of Michael Songloke, but that didn’t stop him from coming all the way to the finals. He snuck into day 2 at 15th place and started out by taking down the champion from the Shonen Jump Championship Circuit’s last trip to Anaheim, Hooman Farahbakush. Michael then had to battle his way through not one, but two Demise OTK mirror matches before finally reaching the finals, where he claimed a 2-0 victory over Team Outphase’s Chris Bowling. The dueling world is already feeling the shockwave left by the result of this tournament, and it’s anyone’s guess where the metagame will go next.

Congratulations to Michael Songloke, SJC Anaheim Champion!

Day 2
Demise OTK will now take on Diamond Dude Turbo for the title of Shonen Jump Anaheim Champion!
While T was off duking it out with Chris Bowling’s Diamond Dude Turbo deck, history was being made on the other side of the bracket.
This is the second day 2 appearance for both players, but neither has managed a win yet.
You really can’t ask for a better Top 16 match than this one.
Day 1
This is probably the most emotionally charged match we’ve seen so far this weekend.
One of the things that everyone has been looking for, but no one has been able to find, is the “perfect” Gadget build.
Standing in Huy Chiem's way to day 2 is Worlds competitor and Comic Odyssey member Matt Laurents.
One of the biggest problems that many players face in their quest for stardom is overcoming their own emotions in the heat of battle.
After an SJC win at the circuit’s last trip to Anaheim and a Top 8 just weeks afterwards, we haven’t heard much from Hooman Farahbakush.
Sigeric is an Atlanta native and ranked 2nd in his state, while Miguel is a native of Los Angeles and is coming off of a regional Top 8 from last week.
Today I’m going to talk about some of the most common reasons why decks that scream, “Cover me!” don’t perform when it comes time for the event.
Jorge’s name is incredibly difficult to spell. Almost as difficult as it is to beat him, as his second place Worlds finish attests.
Jonathan Epstein has opted to bring his own variant of The Six Samurai to the event today, but will it be able to stand up to Andres Ochoa’s Demise OTK?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve been wondering what our previous U.S. National Champions have been up to lately.
If I was preparing to play in this event, I would be very, very worried.
