Miguel Flores is from Anaheim and was playing an Earth deck.
Hugo Adame is from Pasadena and was playing a Spellcaster deck with a solid dose of Beatdown utility.
Game One
Flores won the roll and opted to open. He opened with a Berserk Gorilla and a face-down spell or trap. Adame responded by setting a spell or trap of his own and a face-down monster, but Flores began his next turn by activating Nobleman of Crossout. Breaker the Magical Warrior hit the table, broke Adame’s face-down, and Flores attacked with both monsters. Setting a spell or trap, he passed.
Adame summoned Tribe-Infecting Virus and used his priority to destroy the Gorilla. He then used its effect again to take out Breaker, and attacked directly for 1600. Flores drew into a Forceful Sentry, and exposing Adame’s Black Luster Soldier and Fiber Jar, he bounced the Soldier back to the deck. He used Snatch Steal on Tribe, summoned his own Tribe, and special summoned Gigantes. Attacking with all three, Flores took game one.
Game Two
Adame side decked in Ceasefire, Spirit Reaper, and Enemy Controller before the game began. Flores spent the time diligently shuffling his deck and then set it in front of him, waiting for Adame to conclude. Adame opted to open.
He opened fairly strong, with a face-down Mystic Tomato. Flores, however, had a Pot of Greed and another Nobleman of Crossout for the Tomato. Flores then attacked with a Nimble Momonga and set a spell or trap. Flores took some time to read the exact wording on Momonga before playing out his turn. He used Heavy Storm, but Flores chained his face-down Waboku. Adame brought up Magical Scientist, special summoned Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and used it to suck up the Momonga for an attack. He set a bluff—Change of Heart—and passed.
Flores would make him pay for it, Heavy Storming it away. He then activated Premature Burial to summon Nimble Momonga and normal summoned Pitchblack Warwolf, rolling the squirrel over the Scientist and attacking directly with the Wolf before passing his turn.
Adame summoned Skilled Dark Magician and attacked the Warwolf with it. Smashing Ground took out the Momonga, and he set a face down spell or trap.
Flores retaliated on his turn with a Smashing Ground of his own. He removed the Momonga from his graveyard to special summon Gigantes and then attacked Adame directly with it. He set the last card in his hand and ended his turn.
Adame looked at his hand and took some time to observe both graveyards. He used Premature Burial to bring up Skilled Dark Magician and attacked into Gigantes, blowing away Flores’s set. He set a monster and then passed. Flores set a spell or trap and passed, and Adame set a monster. Flores passed again, and Adame set another monster. Flores then topdecked Magical Scientist and paid 2000 LP to special summon two Dark Balter the Terrible. The two special summoned Fusions rammed into the two face-downs, taking out D. D. Warrior Lady and Fiber Jar before Scientist smacked Adame with his bald little head.
Adame looked to take an advantage and summoned another Skilled Dark. It was Trap Holed, though, and Adame used Snatch Steal to take control of the Scientist and turn it to defense. It ended up being a trivial setback, as Flores topdecked Enraged Battle Ox and attacked for game through the Scientist.
Match Win: Miguel Flores
