Metagame Reader Challenge: Challenge Number One

Welcome to the first Metagame Yu-Gi-Oh! Reader Challenge! This is a new feature of the site—every two weeks, we’ll post a challenge for you to try your hand at. It could be anything from building a certain type of deck, to devising a certain combo, to seeing how much damage you can do in a single turn. Six booster packs of Ancient Sanctuary will be given to the winning entrant for this challenge, and the best solutions each week will be featured on the site one week from the challenge being posted!

The catch? There will always be some sort of twist to make things a bit more interesting . . .

What do I mean by that? Well, let’s look at the first challenge, and it should be pretty clear.

Timmy and PwnzorLeetD00d are having a duel. Pwnzor is using his hybrid Control/Beatdown Chaos deck; it’s won him every tournament at his home store for the past three months, and now no one will play him. He can only get new duelists to compete against him, and after a few games they get tired of losing. Pwnzor’s fine with this because he enjoys crushing the dreams of others.

Timmy is playing an original deck he made last night. It uses his favourite card, Mokey Mokey, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s in his opening hand!

Mokey Mokey’s flavor text says that he is “An outcast angel. Nobody knows what he is thinking at all. Sometimes he gets mad and that is dreadful.” Could this be true? Could the tiny square-shaped sprite actually stand up to Pwnzor’s Chaos monsters? It’s your job to find out in . . .

Reader Challenge Number One: Make Mokey Mokey Angry!

Here are the rules of the challenge.

The objective is to attack on turn 2 for as much damage as possible with a single Mokey Mokey. The winner is the contestant who gives the submission with the highest battle damage to Pwnzor’s life points from Mokey Mokey’s attack.

Timmy will normal summon Mokey Mokey on turn 1 and make any other legal plays you wish.

Pwnzor will spend his first turn drawing his one card and then passing because he is laughing too hard to play. He will not do anything during this challenge.

On turn 2, Timmy must attack with Mokey Mokey—other monsters can attack as well, but the damage from Mokey Mokey’s attack is what this challenge is all about.

Timmy can do anything legal in his draw phase, standby phase, main phase one, and battle phase, but after Mokey Mokey’s attack resolves, the Challenge is over.

Timmy’s initial draw, and any draws after it, can consist of any cards legal for play.

Timmy’s deck must adhere to the Limited list. Butterfly Dagger Elma, Gearfried the Iron Knight, Royal Magical Library, and Manticore of Darkness are banned from this challenge.

So you have two turns to make Mokey Mokey as big as possible, using whatever four cards you want in your opening draw plus Mokey Mokey. Your draws on turn 1 and turn 2 for your draw phases may be any cards you wish, as well as any cards drawn from effects such as Pot of Greed or Graceful Charity.

Will Timmy prevail? Can Mokey Mokey’s dreadful anger be unleashed? See if you can do it. Good luck!
