Adam Corn sadly seems himself losing another post-Swiss match but he’s now going to battle it out for a Doomcaliber Knight. Teriq Williams had also lost his Top 4 match but has been showing to be dominant with his Gladiator Beast deck and hopes to stand in the way of Adam Corn to walk off Philadelphia, the winner of a Doomcaliber Knight.
These players were not getting a Shonen Jump Championship title this time around but there was still the chance for a precious Doomcaliber Knight.
Game 1
Corn won the roll 5-3 and Corn opted to being the match. He set 5 back row cards and ended with his arms folded. Teriq started with a summoned Gladiator Beast Laquari and Corn had no response to that or the attack that followed! Teriq chose not to tag out and set a back row to conclude the turn. Corn drew and passed. Teriq set two back row cards and a monster after attacking and ended. Corn drew and played Reckless Greed to draw two, setting a fifth card and a monster to end his turn. Teriq summoned Elemental Hero Stratos and search out Elemental Hero Prisma for his hand. Laquari was sent to attack Corn’s set monster and it was a Gravekeeper’s Spy! Corn brought another Spy out and Teriq opted not to tag out. In the end phase, Corn played Reckless Greed to draw two. Corn started his turn and skipped his draw phase. He had two Spies and four back row cards to his field vs. Teriq’s Stratos, Laquari, set monster, and two spell or traps. Corn played Soul Exchange targeting Gladiator Beast Laquari and tributed it for Caius the Shadow Monarch! It removed Teriq’s set Gladiator Beast Darius and Corn ended. Teriq was up and he sent Stratos to attack Caius the Shadow Monarch then played Book of Moon to flip it down! Caius went out and Teriq set a monster to end. Corn skipped his draw phase again and tributed a Spy for Prime Material Dragon but the summoning was negated with Solemn Judgment!
Or so we thought . . . Corn chained a Solemn Judgment of his own and Prime Material Dragon was here to stay! Prime attacked over Elemental Hero Stratos for 600 and ended. Teriq drew and set one to each row and ended. Corn got to draw again and set a 5th card to his back row before he attacked the older set monster, which was Gladiator Beast Murmillo. Corn ended and Teriq’s turn was up. He summoned Elemental Hero Prisma and activated the effect with priority but it looked down for a long ride as Bottomless Trap Hole was sprung! Gladiator Beast Bestiari was dumped using Prisma’s effect however and Teriq played Monster Reborn. Corn chained Royal Oppression, but Teriq had a Solemn Judgment of his own to negate Royal Oppression . . .
. . . Then Corn decided to counter with his own Solemn Judgment; the end result was Royal Oppression negating Monster Reborn! Corn drew and shifted his Gravekeeper’s Spy to attack mode; Prime Material Dragon ran over Teriq’s set Gladiator Beast Laquari and Spy hit for 1200! It was 700-450 in favor of Corn with Royal Oppression now a dead card. That really didn’t matter though; Teriq looked at his draw and scooped it all up!
Corn takes duel #1 and is one duel away from bringing home another Doomcaliber Knight for Team Overdose!
Game 2
Both players sided quietly as Teriq had a lot of ground to make up if he was ever going to win that Doomcaliber Knight. Could he do it? You never know! Anything can happen at a Shonen Jump Championship!
Teriq opened up with Gladiator Beast Darius and set three to his back row to end. Corn drew and started with Allure of Darkness removing Mask of Darkness. Corn played Soul Exchange and tributed the Gladiator Beast Darius for Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch but the summoning was negated by Solemn Judgment! He set a back row to finish but got hit with a Dust Tornado clearing the field! Teriq played Gladiator Proving Ground to get Darius, attacked for 1700, and then tagged it out for Gladiator Beast Laquari He ended with two face-down spell or traps on his field. Corn drew and summoned Cyber Valley to end. Teriq attacked the Valley, which was removed, and set a back row as Corn drew. Corn set one to each row and ended. Teriq drew and attacked with 2100 over Corn’s set Spy, who got him another. He set a fourth card to his back row and ended. Corn started his next turn with Soul Exchange but that was negated with Solemn Judgment! Corn set a monster and a back row but lost it to Dust Tornado in the end phase. It was 6300-2000 in Corn’s favor and Teriq brought out Elemental Hero Prisma; he dumped Bestiari and Fused for Gladiator Beast Gyzarus to destroy Corn’s set Sangan and face-up Spy. Corn got Night Assailant and Teriq attacked with Gyzarus for 2400 and tagged it out for Laquari and Darius! Darius got Bestiari out came Heraklinos! He ended with two back row cards on his field.
Corn drew and summoned Snipe Hunter and discarded Night Assailant. Teriq chained Book of Moon, Corn rolled a 4, Gladiator Beast Heraklinos was taken down, and Corn got back Gravekeeper’s Spy with Night Assailant’s effect. He set a back row card to conclude his turn. Teriq was up and mused as he tried to figure out his best move with the options he had. He played Monster Reborn targeting his Gladiator Beast Heraklinos but when it was summoned, Corn played Torrential Tribute! Teriq decided not to negate it and passed. Corn drew, set one to each row, and ended. Teriq set a monster and passed but, when Corn played Mystical Space Typhoon on Teriq’s face down, it turned out to be a chained Phoenix Wing Wind Blast targeting Corn’s monster! Corn drew and set that same monster. With no other cards on his field and Prime Material Dragon in hand, he passed. Teriq drew and flipped up Morphing Jar after setting his last card! Corn discarded Prime Material Dragon and drew five cards while Teriq drew a fresh new hand! Teriq continued with Reinforcement of the Army to get Elemental Hero Stratos and he was summoned to get Elemental Hero Prisma to the hand. He passed after setting a second card to his back row. Corn drew for his turn and flipped Gravekeeper’s Spy but his effect was chained to with Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror! Corn set three back row cards and tributed his Spy for Caius the Shadow Monarch although his effect was negated. He sent his Caius to attack the Jar and Teriq took 1700 points of damage. Corn set a fourth back row card and played Prohibition, calling Gladiator Beast Bestiari and ended. It was 3900-300 in favor of Corn and Teriq was in danger. He set a monster and shifted Stratos to defense. Corn drew for his turnand then played two Reckless Greed! He tributed Caius for Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch and Teriq scooped it up! Teriq had an all monster hand and they were all level 3 or higher!
