Hello again, class. We’ve been watching for some of the brilliant and daring moves we’ve seen today. Plays we’ve seen and then thought, “How clever! That’s the sort of thing that I would do, you know.”
Here are some of our favorites:
- The turn player activates Return from the Different Dimension in the battle phase. The opponent chains his own Return from the Different Dimension and special summons Jinzo from the removed zone. The turn player’s Return doesn’t resolve, and he just lost half his life points.
- The turn player, with almost no life points left, has Berserk Gorilla and attacks a clear field. The opponent activates Return from the Different Dimension and Special Summons his only removed monster: Big Shield Gardna, in defense mode. Since Berserk Gorilla has to attack, it smashes into Big Shield Gardna, and the opponent loses.
- During the final turn of a game that had gone to time, the turn player activated Last Will, then flip summoned his Magician of Faith to return his Last Will to his hand. After activating Last Will a second time, he Tributed his Magician of Faith for Mobius the Frost Monarch, destroying his opponent’s only two set cards. The effects of the Last Will cards summoned Exiled Force, which was tributed to destroy the opponent’s only monster. Mobius and Don Zaloog then attacked across the now-cleared field to victory!
- Near the end of a tense match, the turn player had his opponent down to a mere 2300 life points, and had a face-down Treeborn Frog and Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch in hand. He summoned Thestalos, only to find that the only card in his opponent’s hand was Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World! The shock was so disheartening to the poor player that he eventually lost the game. Sometimes, it’s smart to just let your monsters do the work for you . . .
There’s four favorite plays we’ve seen today—but only four. Compared to all those slacker mistakes in the other column, it just makes me depressed. I need to go lie down now.
