Minneapolis Shonen Jump TCG Championship Series Tournament

Finally someone has done it! Dark Armed Return has been beaten, and by none other than Team Overdose player, Paul Levitin. Paul took his Gladiator Beast deck into the tournament yesterday just hoping not to get embarrassed. After a first round loss he simply refused to lose again. Climbing back into contention he finished day 1 with a 7-1 record. From there he defeated Joshua Fulger’s Dark Armed Return deck. From there he took out John Hammond and his TundOTK deck. Some pivotal traps and a key dice roll win allowed Paul to overcome the OTK deck and move on to face Anthony Duke.

Playing Anthony meant having to take another Dark Armed Return down. Paul was able to counter Anthony’s plays successfully and despite losing a ton of life points early in the duels, pulled it out and advanced to the finals.

There he met his toughest opponent of the day. Mario Matheu was playing Dark Armed Return with Light and Darkness Dragon. After losing game 1 quite promptly, things looked bad for the former SJC Champion. But sheer determination and a timely Crush Card Virus launched Paul back into the spotlight.

Congratulations to Paul Levitin, Shonen Jump Minneapolis Champion!

Day 2
Gladiator Beasts vs. Light and Darkness Dragon. You all saw this coming, right?
Anthony Duke plays for the Kogyochi Korrelation and is the last remaining standard Dark Armed deck.
Pay careful attention to this match. It could very well dictate the future of the format.
Straight out of Iowa, Nathan Kral is here in his first day 2 appearance. He’s the surprise competitor here today, playing a Zombie deck no one thought could make it this far.
After 8 grinding rounds of tournament play, only 16 duelists remain.
Day 1
Eight rounds of tournament play have finished up quite early here in Minneapolis and now only 16 duelists remain.
Chris is one of the most experienced duelists on the circuit, but is he prepared for the deck he’s about to face?
Both players realized the importance of this match, as a win would almost guarantee them a spot in the Top 16.
Jerry Tandoc plays out of Arizona for team S90°N, while Christopher Knudsvig is from Wisconsin, and plays for Kogyochi Korrelation.
It's the perfect time to take a look at the top tables and break down what’s doing well here.
This feature match pits two players you probably already know against each other.
Both players were playing Crush Card Virus, as expected, so these matches will likely showcase what the remainder of the format will look like.
Joe Mooney from Team Top Control plays out of Iowa. He’s here today hoping to make it big, but in his way is Team Overdose member Anthony Alvarado.
What better way to start the Shonen Jump in Minneapolis than with a bang?
It's a bitter cold day outside in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but 244 duelists have braved the winds to show up today and compete for a brand new copy of Doomcaliber Knight!
