It’s over! Day 1 of the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG tournament Seattle has ever seen has drawn to a conclusion, and the results? Well, they’re the only thing that wasn’t surprising today. One Gladiator Beast deck, two Lightsworn decks, and thirteen Teleport Dark Armed decks made it to the Top 16!
While the decks may not be surprising, the duelists wielding them are. Years after winning the American National Championship Austin Kulman is back, making his first Shonen Jump Championship Day 2 here in his home town! On the opposite end of the spectrum is Austrian duelists Claudio Kirchmair — second at the European Championships, fourth at Worlds, and now a Shonen Jump Day 2 alum! Team Overdose’s success here today might not be unexpected; Adam Corn has gone undefeated again, and after a mix-up that saw him have to abandon his vending booth this weekend, Shane Scurry is following hot on Corn’s heels. John Umali, the very first Shonen Jump Champion will be in contention as well, alongside Cesar Gonzalez, Eric Ing with his all-new Gladiator build, and many more top competitors.
Tomorrow we’ll see not just some of the US’s greatest duelists compete, but some of the world’s greatest! Will Teleport Dark Armed claim another victory? Will Austin Kulman claim a Shonen Jump Title? Can Adam Corn keep this up? We’ll answer those questions and more tomorrow at noon, when we kick off the final rounds of Shonen Jump Championship Seattle!
