We just entered round 4 and now Kurt Senster and Matho Müller will fight it out to keep on track for the finals. Müller is well-known, since he won last year’s Pharaoh Tour and took away a unique German Des Volstgalph. Senster won the die roll with a 5 against Müllers 2 and opted to go first.
Both players exchanged pleasantries and Senster made his opening move, after thinking about his options for some time. After setting a monster face down, he was already done, Müller took his time as well, summoned Exiled Force, shot down Exarion Universe, and set a spell or trap card.
Senster summoned Sangan and attacked directly, set a spell or trap card and passed. Müller took some time to think again and set a monster face down. Senster removed Magician of Faith with Nobleman of Crossout, both players removed their remaining copies from their decks, Sangan attacked directly again and after setting another spell or trap, it was up to Müller again.
Last years Pharaoh Tour champion set another monster, Senster tributed Sangan to summon Zaborg the Thunder Monarch and its effect destroyed Spirit Reaper. After searching his deck for Night Assailant, Senster’s Monarch attacked into Scapegoat and with another face down spell or trap, Senster was ready to let his opponent proceed. Müller set two spell or trap cards and passed. Senster destroyed another Token and passed as well. Müller summoned Tsukuyomi, activated Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Smashing Ground, and both players started laughing. Tsukuyomi destroyed Zaborg and Müller was done with his turn.
Senster activated Call of the Haunted to return Sangan to the field, flip-summoned Night Assailant to destroy another Token, the Assailant then attacked the last Token and Sangan hit Müller directly. After setting a spell or trap card, Senster wad done with his turn. Müller summoned D. D. Assailant, but Senster removed it with Bottomless Trap Hole. Müller considered his options and looked at the field, before he set a spell or trap card and passed. Senster attacked with Sangan directly again, set another monster face down, Müller activated Premature Burial to special summon Exiled Force, attacked Night Assailant and shot the Treeborn Frog down in main phase 2. Sangan attacked directly again, Senster set another spell or trap card and was done with his turn.
Müller set a monster face down, but Senster removed it from game via Nobleman of Crossout, and Sangan got another bite at Müllers life points. Müller special summoned Cyber Dragon, but Sensters Torrential Tribute quickly cleared the field and fetched Gravekeeper's Spy for Sangan for Senster. After setting a monster, Müller passed, Senster summoned Strike Ninja and attacked into Tsukuyomi, flipping the Ninja face down. He set another spell or trap card and passed.
Müller activated Call of the Haunted, but Senster chained Mystical Space Typhoon. He then special summoned Chaos Sorcerer and tributed it to summon Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, destroying Strike Ninja and clearing the opponents field for a direct attack. Senster returned Strike Ninja with Premature Burial to the field, gained control of Zaborg the Thunder Monarch with Snatch Steal and since Müller was only able to block one attack with Sakuretsu Armor, Senster won game 1.
Both players joked about how excellent Sangan is before they started the second game.
Müller summoned Sangan (and both players started to smile immediately), set a spell or trap card and passed. Senster destroyed Sakuretsu Armor with Mystical Space Typhoon and set a spell or trap card, before D. D. Warrior Lady removed Sangan from game (much to Müller’s dislike). Müller summoned Spirit Reaper, but Enemy Controller was enough to get rid of the Zombie. He then set a spell or trap card and passed. Senster played his own Sangan, attacked successfully, and Müller started to look angry. He flipped Heavy Storm, causing Senster to lose an Enemy Controller, set a monster and was done.
Senster summoned Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, offering Sangan as a tribute and shot a Magician of Faith down, before he fetched a Gravekeeper's Spy. The Monarch attacked directly and after setting a spell or trap card, game proceeded to the next turn. Müller set a spell or trap card of his own, Zaborg then attacked into a Sheep token, and Senster set another monster.
Müller activated Metamorphosis to morph a token into Thousand-Eyes Restrict and tried to equip it with Zaborg, but Book of Moon would make sure the Monarch would see another turn. Müller wasn't done yet, so he tribute summoned his own Zaborg the Thunder Monarch and shot the other Thunder Monarch down, activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove the face-down Gravekeeper's Spy and attacked directly. Senster summoned Tsukuyomi, flipped his opponent’s Zaborg face down and destroyed it, then set a spell or trap card and passed. Müller had no actions and passed as well.
Senster set a face down monster. Müller summoned D. D. Assailant and attacked into Treeborn Frog before his opponent set another monster and passed. It was up to Müller again, who attacked into Magician of Faith, returning Book of Moon to Senster's hand. After setting a card to each zone, Matho was allowed to strike again. His D. D. Assailant attacked into another Magician of Faith, this time returning Mystical Space Typhoon to Sensters hand. Before game proceeded to the next turn, Senster activated Scapegoat, just to activate Heavy Storm from his spell or trap card zone. He took out Müllers Mystical Space Typhoon, set a spell or trap card and passed. Müller attacked with Assailant, but Sakuretsu Armor protected the sheep. Senster only had a spell or trap card, Müller mirrored his turn and Senster flipped Mystical Space Typhoon, causing Müller to loose his newly set Bottomless Trap Hole.
Senster activated Graceful Charity and discarded Torrential Tribute and Tsukuyomi. He summoned Exarion Universe and attacked a token with its effect for some piercing damage. He ended his turn after Smashing Ground and a spell or trap card. Müller activated Snatch Steal to gain control of Exarion, but Book of Moon flipped it face down. Müller set a card to each zone and passed. Exarion attacked the face down Spirit Reaper without its effect and Senster finished his turn after setting another spell or trap card.
Smashing Ground destroyed Exarion Universe, before Spirit Reaper got rid of one of the Token. Senster summoned Strike Ninja and attacked the Reaper, Müller special summoned Chaos Sorcerer to remove the Ninja, but Senster chained its own effect. Müller set a monster face down and passed after switching Spirit Reaper to defense position.
Strike Ninja returned to the field. Senster summoned another Exarion Universe and tried to attack, but Müller quickly activated Mirror Force. Senster shifted his Ninja again and was done with his turn after setting a spell or trap card. Müller flip summoned Magician of Faith, getting Heavy Storm back and activated it immediately to destroy the face-down Premature Burial. The last Token had to go and Senster passed without an action. Müller attacked directly, Senster had no responses, and after summoning a Chaos Sorcerer during his next turn, Müller was able to tie the match at one game apiece.
Kurt decided to go first in the third game. He set a card to each zone and Müller mirrored his turn. Senster summoned Sangan again and activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove Spirit Reaper. He lost Sakuretsu Armor at the end of his turn to Mystical Space Typhoon, and it was Müller’s turn again. He summoned Tsukuyomi, defeated Sangan and Müller fetched Gravekeeper's Spy again. Senster set a monster face down and Müller just mirrored his move again. Senster set another monster, his opponent flip-summoned Magician of Faith, returning Mystical Space Typhoon back to his hand, flipped MoF face-down after summoning Tsukuyomi and after taking a longer break, he just ended his turn after a spell or trap card.
Senster flip summoned Gravekeeper's Guard to return Magician of Faith back to Müller's hand, then summoned Tsukuyomi to put the Guard face down again. After setting a spell or trap card, he was done with his turn, but lost Enemy Controller to Mystical Space Typhoon. Müller set a card to each zone and passed. Senster flipped his Guard again and tried to attack directly, but Müller activated Sakuretsu Armor. Senster set another monster, Müller set a card to each zone again and Senster flipped Gravekeeper's Spy to search for another copy. He attacked into Spirit Reaper and tried to get rid of it with Smashing Ground, but Book of Moon saved the little Zombie. Senster set another monster, before letting his opponent go. Müller set a card to each zone and set another spell or trap card, before he was done with his turn.
Senster flip summoned Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive to further increase the already impressive number of cards in his hand, then activated Graceful Charity and discarded Strike Ninja and Metamorphosis. Dekoichi tried to attack, but Mirror Force destroyed it, as well as both copies of Gravekeeper's Spy. Senster tributed Treeborn Frog to summon Zaborg the Thunder Monarch, destroyed Magician of Faith with its effect and passed.
Müller flip-summoned Spirit Reaper and activated Smashing Ground, then he attacked directly and Senster lost a Magician of Faith to Reaper's effect. He set a monster face down and was done with his turn. The Frog returned to Sensters side of the field, he summoned Breaker the Magical Warrior, destroyed Premature Burial by removing a spell counter, and activated Nobleman of Crossout to remove Tsukuyomi from the game after checking his graveyard.
Senster activated Smashing Ground and attacked directly, Müller removed a Dark and a Light monster to special summon Chaos Sorcerer, removed the Frog from game and was done after setting a spell or trap card. Senster switched Breaker into defense position and set another monster.
Chaos Sorcerer removed Breaker and Müller activated Last Will. He sacrificed his Sorcerer to summon Mobius the Frost Monarch, searched his deck for Sangan due to Last Will's effect and both players had to smile, because the little Sangan hit the field again. Nobleman of Crossout removed the face down Tsukuyomi from game and after setting a spell or trap card, he attacked directly. Senster considered his options for some time and decided to just set a spell or trap card, Müller activated Metamorphosis to special summon Ryu Senshi, Senster responded with Torrential Tribute, but a good investment of 1000 life points made sure Müller's monsters stayed on the field and were able to attack directly for the win!
Matho Müller was able to make a strong comeback after Kurt Senster won the first duel and is still on track to reach the finals!
