It’s over, and the three decks anticipated to be the top archetypes heading into the weekend have delivered! The impact of Crossroads of Chaos has been felt here in Atlanta.
The most-represented deck in Day 2 is no surprise; Teleport Dark Armed Dragon has done it again, taking eleven of the top slots. Of those decks, seven of them played Plaguespreader Zombie while four did not. Three Lightsworn duelists managed to make the Top 16 (one with Plaguespreader Zombie, two without), and two drastically different Zombie builds made the cut as well. It’s just what we expected: a whole new metagame with three decks duking it out.
Top duelists tomorrow include Cesar Gonzalez, Jerry Wang, and Victor E. Reinert, but they’re being pursued by several new up-and-comers. After his outstanding debut showing at Shonen Jump Charlotte, Henry Su is back in Day 2 yet again — this time with Lightsworn. He’s just one of the new stars we’ll see in contention tomorrow.
For now it’s time for rest and reflection, as the Top 16 retreat to their homes and hotels to retire for the evening. Tomorrow it all goes down: four more rounds of high-impact dueling, with no real favorite heading into the competition.
Join us tomorrow as we see how it all ends, in Day 2 of Shonen Jump Championship Atlanta!
