Igor Kharin is the leader of Team Recoil and is 2-0 today playing a Cyber-Stein deck. Jamie Stafford is the winner of the Pharaoh Tour Finals and currently ranked first in the UK. He’s playing a standard cookie cutter deck, and is also 2-0. Going into round three, both players are looking forward to a fantastic game that’s bound to be played out at a blinding pace.
Both players shuffled up and exchanged pleasantries, including memories of the last time they played.
“He freaking Lillied me!” said Igor. Maybe today will hold a different story? They rolled for the start, and Jamie won, deciding to take the lead.
Stafford set a card to each zone and passed, only to have his D. D. Warrior Lady removed by Nobleman of Crossout on Igor’s next turn. He set a monster, played Level Limit – Area B and ended.
“I can’t keep a straight face,” said Jamie.
Stafford drew his card and passed, while Igor did the same. Jamie top decked Nobleman of Crossout on Igor’s Magician of Faith and both players stripped their decks. Both players were acting coolly as Igor set a card to each zone and passed, while Jamie simply passed. A few turns and a Dust Tornado on Igor’s freshly set Secret Barrel later, Jamie special summoned Cyber Dragon and offered it as a tribute for Mobius the Frost Monarch. Stafford and Igor were both passing for a few more turns and the life point totals were Igor 8000 to Jamie 7000.
Igor activated Giant Trunade and chained Secret Barrel for 1000. He summoned Cyber-Stein and used its effect for Cyber End Dragon. Jamie scooped his cards and Igor took game one in traditional Cyber-Stein style.
Igor 1 – 0 Stafford.
Both players fiddled with their side-decks but it was uncertain whether either of them had actually utilised them.
Game two began with Stafford taking the lead after both guys showed mutual respect for each other by counting out their side-decks and shaking hands.
“Make sure to give all my fans at DuelistGroundz a shout-out,” Igor requested, and I couldn’t really refuse. Besides, Stafford commented that the reason we love Igor is his weird style.
Remember, both of these guys are entering the Scrub Brush Challenge, so one of them will likely be on the bubble for the Top 8!
Stafford set two cards to his back row as well as a monster and Igor grimaced.
“Dude, it’s over, I drew like, the most perfect hand ever. Trunade, any response?”
The Giant Trunade cleared out both of Stafford’s back row cards, and Jamie knew what was coming.
“Cyber-Stein, Megamorph, and Crossout, man. It’s all over.”
Stafford blinked. I blinked. The judge walking past blinked. It really was all over and Jamie scooped his cards, admitting defeat. The Pharaoh Tour Finals winner was swiftly defeated just bare minutes into the round by Igor Kharin, who moves on with a perfect record of three wins!
