Steven Arias is a high school senior from Lewisville, TX, with some fairly respectable tournament results. After a fourth place finish at U.S. Nationals in 2004 and a fourteenth place finish at Worlds in 2004, Steven came here today with a Zombie Chaos deck and a dream of winning a Cyber-Stein.

“Zombie Chaos has a lot of control elements,” Steven commented. “I threw in some of my own cards like
Giant Orc and Deck Devastation Virus.” Why did he make such an interesting decision? “I thought it was a good way to play because they’re Dark monsters to fuel Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning and Deck Devastation Virus.”

This is all well and good, but that’s not the whole story. Steven has another interesting deck, and though he didn’t bring it here today, it’s still worth mentioning. “Tell me about your
Jinzo #7 deck,” I asked.

“It’s a spell and trap Control deck,” Steven replied. “It has
Dust Tornado, Giant Trunade, and Heavy Storm.” These cards will destroy an opponent’s spells and traps, allowing Steven to attack through his or her monsters with Jinzo #7. “There’s a bunch of equipment like Axe of Despair, Big Bang Shot, and United We Stand. Get Jinzo #7’s ATK higher, then play Limiter Removal.” Once Jinzo #7 has 8000 ATK, Steven can attack his opponent directly and win the game.

Why didn’t he play this interesting deck at the tournament today? “I didn’t get all the kinks out of it. It still needs work. I’m going to try it out at Regionals and see how it does there, and if it does pretty well, I’ll try it at a bigger tournament.”

With three years of Yu-Gi-Oh! experience, Steven seems to have the skills to take this deck to the top. Here’s hoping he does well at the tournament today. What would he do if he won the
Cyber-Stein that everyone’s working so hard to win?

“I’d play it for one weekend, then sell it.”

Here’s hoping.
