Over 220 players showed up for the U.S. National Championship of Yu-Gi-Oh! The best players and the best decks came together to form a field that was dominated by Chaos variants, but a few Machine, Magician of Chaos, Last Turn, and One-Hit KO Magical Scientist decks were pressed to the limit, redefining speed as most know it in a effort to outpace Chaos.
Tension and excitement ran high for the entire event that spanned eleven rounds total to cut the field down to a final pair. In the end it came down to a near mirror match of Chaos versus Chaos, and Theerasak Poonsombat narrowly defeated Sang Bui in a three-game nailbiter to take the title of US Champion. All in all, four individuals earned themselves passes to the World Championships in Anaheim later this year, and the four competitors will take on an even more varied and spectacular field dueling the best that the world has to offer.
