This round saw Comic Odyssey powerhouse Wilson Luc facing off against the loveable Jae Kim. Jae won the roll and opted to start the game. A weary judge sat down to officiate the match and take a load off, and the game began. Both players were 5-1 and needed to win this match to stay in Top 8 contention.
Game One
Jae opened the game up with a face down monster and two other face down cards. Wilson responded with a face down monster of his own, and passed the turn. Jae set two more cards and summoned Don Zaloog before flipping up Morphing Jar. With a new hand, Jae was relieved to see that Wilson’s Snatch Steal and Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning were gone. Jae dropped Nobleman of Crossout to remove Wilson’s face down Spirit Reaper from the game, then used Call of the Haunted to return his D. D. Assailant and swung with all his monsters. He randomly discarded Delinquent Duo from Wilson’s hand using Don Zaloog’s effect, then ended his turn.
Wilson still had Graceful Charity, though, and he used it, discarding Mystic Tomato and Stealth Bird. Wilson followed up with Tsukuyomi flipping down Jae’s Jar. He set the rest of his hand and then attacked the Jar. A Dust Tornado from Jae took out Wilson’s Scapegoat, but the attack went through and Wilson got his hand back. He set another card and passed. There were a lot of cards on the field, and Jae had to consider his moves carefully. He decided to attack with Don Zaloog, and he was hit with Mirror Force. My Body as a Shield saved his monsters, and the attack continued. Scapegoat was then thrown into the fray to block off Jae’s angry monsters.
Jae destroyed two Sheep tokens, then set a card to each zone and passed. Wilson summoned Breaker the Magical Warrior, and Jae hit it with Ring of Destruction. Things weren’t looking to good for Wilson, but he chained Torrential Tribute to the Ring to avoid the damage and clear the field. He then set one more card and passed. During the end phase, Dust Tornado took it out, and it was revealed to be Nobleman of Crossout. All Jae did was set a monster and end, and Wilson set a card to each zone and passed.
Jae flipped up his facedown Heavy Storm, and Wilson chained with Ceasefire. Jae took 1000 and his Magician of Faith was negated. An absolutely wonderful play from everyone involved. Jae summoned Blade Knight and switched his Magician of Faith to attack mode. The Magician swung on Sinister Serpent, then Blade Knight hit directly. Jae set a card and then passed over to Wilson. Wilson got back his Serpent, then used Lightning Vortex to clear Jae’s field. He set a monster then passed back to Jae, who checked the graveyards before making his play.
He used Nobleman of Crossout to remove Wilson’s Tsukuyomi from play, then summoned D. D. Survivor and attacked, bringing Wilson to 500 life points. He set a card and passed. Wilson brought back his Sinister Serpent again, summoned it, and used Metamorphosis to turn it into Thousand-Eyes Restrict. He absorbed the Survivor, but declined to attack directly. Jae immediately put a monster into the Restrict’s way and ended his turn. This time he did attack, but Jae flipped Mirror Wall and revealed Big Shield Gardna, causing Wilson more than enough damage to end the game.

D. Warrior Lady with Nobleman of Crossout. His attack was stopped by Scapegoat, and he then destroyed a Sheep token. Jae set a card, then passed. Wilson used Metamorphosis to get a Thousand-Eyes Restrict, but Ring of Destruction blew it up. He then set a card to each zone and ended. Wilson played Snatch Steal to take Jae’s Assailant and attacked him directly. Jae gained 1000 life points, then flipped Heavy Storm, taking out Snatch Steal and a face down Swords of Revealing Light. Attacked directly, then Wilson set a card to each of his zones. During the end phase, Jae’s Dust Tornado destroyed Wilson’s face down Premature Burial. Jae summoned Blade Knight, and then set two cards face down.
Wilson attacked with Thousand-Eyes Restrict, but he was stopped by Mirror Force. He set a card to each zone and passed, but Jae’s Mystical Space Typhoon took out the newly set Call of the Haunted during the end phase. Jae dropped Mystic Swordsman LV2 and pondered over which face down monster to attack with it. He guessed right, eliminating Wilson’s Magician of Faith. Blade Knight took out Sinister Serpent, then Jae set a card and passed. Wilson brought back his Serpent and set it and a card before passing. Jae destroyed it and attacked again with Blade Knight. Wilson drew and got his final Metamorphosis and used it to get his final Thousand-Eyes Restrict. He sucked up Blade Knight and hit Jae’s Swordsman for 700 damage. Jae summoned Exiled Force and used its effect to rid the field of the final Thousand-Eyes Restrict.
Wilson summoned his Serpent once again and used it to bite Jae for a quick 300 points. Jae investigated his options, and finally decided to set a monster face down. Wilson drew into Pot of Greed and switched his Sinister Serpent to defense. He added another face down monster to his field then passed. Jae picked up Graceful Charity and played it, discarding Snatch Steal and My Body as a Shield. He summoned Sangan and attacked Wilson’s face down Magician of Faith. Wilson got Pot of Greed back and played it bringing his hand count up to five cards.
He threw down Nobleman of Crossout, but Big Shield Gardna flipped up to negate it. He then summoned Tribe-Infecting Virus and used its effect to name Warriors. Tribe attacked Sangan, and Sinister Serpent hit directly. Jae fetched his own Sinister Serpent with Sangan’s effect, and Wilson set a card before passing. Jae summoned Tsukuyomi and used it to flip Wilson’s Serpent face down. He followed it up with Nobleman of Crossout. Wilson attacked directly, then set a card to each zone and ended. Jae flipped his face down Lightning Vortex, then set a monster and passed.
Wilson removed a Light and a Dark monster to summon Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning to the field and removed Magician of Faith from play. He then flipped up his face down Tsukuyomi, flipping down his own Soldier. Tsukuyomi attacked, and Jae topdecked his own Black Luster Soldier, opting to remove Wilson’s from the game. He set a monster and ended his turn. Jae set a card to each zone and ended. Wilson set a card and a monster as well, then at the start of Jae’s turn, flipped Ceasefire for the win.

Jae contemplated using Ring of Destruction on his own monster, but decided not to. Wilson summoned Asura Priest and wiped the field. Jae set a card and ended, while Wilson set a monster and passed. He ran straight into Magician of Faith, and Wilson got back Mystical Space Typhoon. Jae set a card to his monster zone, then two others to his spell and trap zone, then passed.
Wilson started off by using Mystical Space Typhoon to rid the field of Airknight Parshath, then set a monster and passed. Jae drew and played Reinforcement of the Army to search out Mystic Swordsman LV2. He then flipped over a Magician of Faith to retrieve Graceful Charity. He discarded Mobius and Exiled Force to it before summoning the Swordsman and attacking. Wilson’s Spirit Reaper was wiped from the field, and Magician of Faith swung in directly.
Wilson simply set a card and passed, only to have it destroyed by Dust Tornado. Jae flipped his Magician down with Book of Moon, then brought it back up retrieving Graceful Charity again. He brought down Blade Knight and attacked for the game.
