Scrub Brush Challenge San Jose: The Aftermath!
Julia Hedberg

We had a higher than normal number of competitors this time, which means more than usual amounts of scrubbing! Sending out 2006 in style, I bring you the Scrubs of San Jose performing the Parade of Shame! It’s all about the coverage, anyway, right? About standing up in front of the world, holding that brush with the pride that only comes from knowing that you are on Metagame.com, and they are not.

Judge Chris was eager to scrub his “little” brother, AJ Tachella, who does hold the distinction of being the only person ever scrubbed by [Dark Magician Girl].

Alex Reynolds was hauled up for his penalty shot, but he took it in good fun!

Chris Moosman scrubs like he does everything else — with style.

Austin Kulman didn’t do so well this time, but he takes his scrubbing with a smile.

. . . Maybe because he gets to take it out on teammate Sam Mulvihill?

JP Gentry was close for a while there, but alas . . . in the end, the scrub!

Chris Welch gets some help from Fili while Hooman grabs some screen time.

Fili Luna gets the favor returned!

Omar Navarro goes for the strong and silent pose.

Matt Highline’s done this a few times, so he knows the drill!

Vincent Tran shows his opinion of scrubbing in general . . .

Corey DaFoe gets some hygiene assistance!

This was Vijay Chawla’s first Jump, and he celebrates it with his first scrub.

. . . Then lends a hand to Vishaal Desai!

And finally . . . I don’t normally do this, but, in recognition of his historic “scooping” error in the Top 8, I’m making an honorary scrub of Tomas Mijares!

We are missing some pictures here, and normally they’re further penalized, but, in honor of the holiday season and because there’s a fair in the park across the street and I’d really rather go get some cotton candy and a funnel cake than sit here playing around with Photoshop, they’re getting away with it.

Well, we might as well see where everyone ended up, don’t you think? Here’s the final list!

Vijay Chawla finished 62nd, with 6 wins.

Arthur Chien . . . SCRUBBED! Aawww . . .

Corey Defeo . . . SCRUBBED! Aawww . . .

Vishaal Desai . . . SCRUBBED! Aawww . . .

Matthew Highline finished 124th with 4 wins.

JP Gentry finished 22nd, with 7 wins.

Austin Kulman . . . SCRUBBED! Aawww . . .

Charles Laygo finished 58th with 5 wins.

Stephen Leung finished 129th with 4 wins.

Fili Luna finished 58th, with 6 wins. I feel so bad he didn’t get into the challenge at SoCal!

Chris Moosman finished 11th, the highest placing competitor, with 7 wins.

Sam Mulvihill finished 67th, with 6 wins.

Omar Navarro . . . SCRUBBED! Aawww . . .

Alex Reynolds finished 46th, with 6 wins.

AJ Tachella finished 142nd, with 4 wins. The insects let him down!

Vincent Tran finished 20th, second highest placing competitor, with 7 wins.

Nick Travaglini finished 141st, with 4 wins.

Chris Welch finished 44th with 6 wins.

Wilson Yu finished 88th with 5 wins. He didn’t drop, so he’s safe.

Looks like no winner for this Challenge . . . it’s harder than it looks! We will have to see what 2007 holds in store.
