Dark Legends Update – Legality, Release Date, And Spoilers!
Jason Grabher-Meyer

A week and a half ago we broke the news on a never-before-seen booster set launching this month: Dark Legends. Each Dark Legends package has two boosters of the new reprint set, plus a guaranteed copy of Gorz, Emissary of Darkness! Last time around we described the set as being similar to Europe’s Retro Pack booster, made up primarily of reprints from Legend of Blue Eyes, Metal Raiders, and Magic Ruler. We also stated that the set contained reprints of hard-to-get promos, plus some popular tournament-level cards that have never been reprinted before.

This time we’re back, with a few more details about this stellar new set and what you can expect to see in it. First up though, we’ve finally nailed down a release date! While internet rumors attributed a number of dates to this set’s debut, we now know that it’s slated to start shipping to Wal-Mart locations on November 21st. A recent post on the official Upper Deck Forums also revealed that the legality for Gorz, Emissary of Darkness to be November 24th. Here’s a retailer mock-up of what the packaging will look like, given to us by an inside source:

Yes, that is in fact Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest and Blizzard Dragon on the booster wrappers! Green Baboon is an Ultra Rare in Dark Legends, while Blizzard Dragon is a Rare. Expect to see Destiny Hero – Malicious and Destiny Draw as Super Rares, and even an Ultra Rare reprint of Gellenduo… and that’s just for starters.

Dark Legends will first appear at Wal-Mart locations this month on the 21st, and will be released later through other mass-market and hobby retailers in January.
