It’s over! Tomorrow, we’ll see one of the most star-studded Day 2’s ever, and one more day of Dark Armed Dragon domination.

Fourteen of the Day 2 decks involve Dark Armed Dragon. Caius the Shadow Monarch, Light and Darkness Dragon, and Destiny Hero – Plasma are seeing far more emphasis. Return from the Different Dimension and Dimension Fusion have largely been replaced by D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation, and the result has been a slowed metagame. The proof? Monarchs.

Two duelists made it to Day 2 with heavy Monarch builds, a huge surprise showing from a traditionally very slow deck. Where Zombies and the Six Samurai failed, Monarchs somehow succeeded, and that makes a strong statement about the effect of last week’s mid-format changes.

Tomorrow we’ll see competitors like Jerry Wang, Cesar Gonzalez, Hugo Adame, Matt Peddle, Bobby Chambers, and many more go head-to-head for the glory of a Shonen Jump title. For now though, the Top 16 has retired for an evening of studying and test games. Tomorrow, we’ll see which build will prove to be the most dominant Dark Armed Dragon deck in the new format!
