Finals: Scott Smith vs. Alex Brown
Enchante Chang

Game 1

Scott won the roll and chose to take the odd initiatives.

Turn 1
Scott had nothing for turn 1, while Alex had a visible Doctor Decibel and swung for 2.

Turn 2
Alex recruited Shape. Scott had Dane Whitman ◊ Black Knight with a V-Wing.
Alex attacked with Shape, and used Decibel’s ability to cause a mutual stun. 48–45 to Alex.

Turn 3
Scott had an uneventful turn, and just passed to Alex. Alex flipped up Behavior Modification Device, used it once, and recruited Lady Lark. Dane attacked the good Doctor. Lady Lark attacked Dane. Scott tried to save Dane with a Quinjet, but Alex trumped it with a power-up from the hand.

Turn 4
Power Princess, Zarda was the latest recruit, and was placed in front of the Doctor. Shape moved to protect Lady Lark. Scott had Hawkeye, and formed in front of Dane. The V-wing moved to Hawkeye. Zarda attacked Hawkeye, and Hawkeye stunned Shape before the 4-drops went down. Lady Lark attacked Dane, and then Decibel attacked for 2. 39–23 to Alex.

Turn 5
Scott had to under-drop for this turn in the form of Dallas Riordan ◊ Vantage, and flipped up Stormfront-1 to draw a card.
Dallas was in the front, and also acquired the V-Wing. Alex had Whizzer in the front row alongside Power Princess. The Doctor was behind Whizzer, and Lady Lark was behind Zarda. Dallas attacked Zarda. He used her ability to pump herself, as well as a Combat Maneuvers, but Alex had an Eldritch Power and Scott just conceded there and then.

Game 2

The odd initiatives were chosen again by Scott.

Turn 1

Scott mulliganed away his awful hand and picked up a beauty.
He started the turn with Beast, Furry Blue Scientist. Alex had Joystick, and Beast rammed into her. 49–48 to Scott.

Turn 2

Alex played the powerhouse, Erik Josten ◊ Atlas, Kosmos Convict. This was matched by Scott with Falcon attached to a V-Wing. Joystick attacked Beast. Atlas then made a move on Falcon, and they both stunned. 46–45 to Scott. Both of the 1-drops were KO’d.

Turn 3
Quicksilver, Mutant Avenger was recruited by Scott, and the V-Wing was moved to the new recruit. Both characters were placed in the front row. Alex had Melissa Gold ◊ Songbird, Sonic Carapace and Doctor Decibel in the hidden area. Falcon attacked Songbird, and with the help of a Quinjet, they both stunned. Scott then hoped that Alex did not have a team-up and an Eldritch Power—he didn’t, and Atlas stunned. Alex chose to recover Melissa, 44–40 to Scott.

Turn 4
Alex had to under-drop this turn and recruited Lady Lark. Scott matched the under-drop with Beetle ◊ Mach 2. The V-Wing was also moved to the new character before he passed the recruit. Quicksilver and Falcon were in the front row, with Beetle behind Falcon. Songbird attacked Quicksilver and they both stunned. Lady Lark attacked into Falcon, but Scott had United We Stand for the stun. The good Doctor braved it out with Beetle, but had a helping hand with Justice Like Lightning. 31–31.

Turn 5
Scott recruited the suboptimal Paul Ebersol ◊ Techno, Man of Metal, and Alex returned Justice Like Lightning to his hand. V-Wing was again moved to the new recruit, who was placed in front of Beetle. Alex looked like he was playing off-curve as he recruited Moonglow and Shape. Shape was placed in front of Lady Lark, and Moonglow was set beside her. Beetle used his new outfit (Mach 2) to attack Lady Lark. Moonglow used her ability to search out Behavior Modification Device before they both stunned. Techno attacked Moonglow, and Alex declined to attack back. 28–17 to Scott.

Turn 6
Hibernaculum started the turn for Alex, and he elected to return nothing. He pitched the team-up from his hand so he could use Answer the Call to find Skymax. Scott had Hawkeye, Clinton Barton and Dane Whitman ◊ Black Knight. Hawkeye was placed in front with Techno. Shape attacked Hawkeye, but Hawkeye just threw a hail of arrows and stunned Shape before he could even say Vs. Lady Lark attacked Techno with the help of Squadron City
; Scott reinforced with Beetle. The last attack was Skymax on Dane, and a Justice Like Lightning later the turn ended. 23–12 to Scott.

Turn 7
Scott played Captain America, Super Soldier and Alex conceded, as all he had was a 2-drop.

Game 3

For the final game of the $10K, Alex chose the odd initiatives, the most chosen initiative this weekend.

Turn 1
Alex played Joystick to Scott’s nothing, and she swung for 1.

Turn 2
Scott recruited Dane Whitman for the third time this match, while Alex had Dallas Riordan, Mayoral Aide in the hidden area. Dane attacked Joystick, and that was turn 2. 49–47 to Scott.

Turn 3
Lady Lark was recruited again for Alex, and he moved it to protect Joystick. Scott had Quicksilver and placed them both in the front row. Alex attacked with Joystick on Quicksilver, and with the help of SquadronCity, they both stunned. Lady Lark attacked Quicksilver, but Scott had Heroes in Reserve for +1 ATK. Again, both characters stunned. 40–40.

Turn 4
Scott had Dallas Riordan ◊ Vantage, and also teamed up. Moonglow was played by Alex, and when
Dallas tried to attack Moonglow, Alex used Eldritch Power to try for the double stun. It was not to be, because Scott had Combat Maneuvers. Alex reinforced with Lady Lark. Quicksilver then attacked Lady Lark, and both characters stunned. 37–32 to Scott.

Turn 5
Alex KO’d Lady Lark the turn before, and just now realized he had KO’d the wrong character. He didn’t beat himself up about it too much, though. Alex pitched a card to Behavior Modification Device and then recruited Whizzer. Both of his characters were placed in the front row. Scott had Scarlet Witch, Mistress of Chaos Magic, and placed her in front of Quicksilver.
Dallas was positioned beside Quicksilver in the support row. Whizzer attacked into Scarlet Witch with a Supply Line. Only the Witch was stunned. Next, Moonglow and Dallas team attacked Vantage. Scott paid 1 endurance to have her pump herself up. Alex used SquadronCity to help the attack go through. Whizzer then readied and attacked Quicksilver, and that was the end of turn 5. 20–27 to Alex.

Turn 6
Scott recruited Iron Man, Tony Stark and Falcon. All characters were set in the front row, with Iron Man in the middle. Alex recruited Skymax. Scott pitched Legendary Battles and team attacked Falcon and Quicksilver on Whizzer. Quicksilver was readied. Quicksilver and Iron Man then teamed up to attack Skymax; Quicksilver readied again. Quicksilver had another go and attacked Moonglow. Alex passed his attack. 20–13 to Scott.

Turn 7
Alex chose not to play a resource and recruited Nighthawk and Doctor Decibel.
Scott seemed to be getting better draws and played Hawkeye and Hank Pym ◊ Yellowjacket along with a V-Wing attached to him. Hawkeye then stunned both of Alex’s 1-drops before he formed with Hawkeye in front of Hank, Iron Man in front of Falcon, and Quicksilver to the left of Falcon. Nighthawk attacked Quicksilver with a pump from SquadronCity and reinforcement from Falcon. Skymax attacked Hank, but V-wing made it possible for Iron Man to move and reinforce. 13–11 to Scott.

Turn 8
Scott had Helmut Zemo ◊ Citizen V, Warmonger and Beast.
Alex’s own Dallas Riordan ◊ Vantage came out along with Ogre, and he formed with all but Skymax and the Doctor in the front row. Because of Iron Man, Quicksilver could attack the Doctor. When Zemo went to attack, Alex conceded.

Scott Smith wins $10K
