Day 2 of Pro Circuit Indianapolis 2005 is all wrapped up, and our Top 8 is ready to battle for the top spot. Green Lanterns/Emerald Enemies, which represented just under 70 percent of the field at the start of the tournament, has edged up to three quarters of the Top 8. The big story is that there is one build that has dominated like no other. That build belongs to Team FTN. With Jason Dawson, Mike Dalton, and David Leader making it to Day 3, their build looks likely to become the template for PCQ players around the world in the coming months.
Germany is also asserting itself again as the premiere Vs. System force outside of the United States. Both Kristian Kockott and Markus Kolb will be showing the strength of Teutonic Vs. in the Top 8. They’re looking to be the first European PC winner.
Your Move Games owner Rob Dougherty is the latest of the Team YMG players to make Top 8. Given the pedigree of the team in past Pro Circuits, he’ll be a strong contender.
Finally, we come to the two players who have made it to the Top 8 without the ever-present GLEE deck. Team Realmworx member Dave Spears has been fighting to make Day 3 since the start of the Pro Circuit, and his roar of triumph upon making it will only be eclipsed if he wins the whole show. With his “Kiman Stall” deck featuring Qward, Kiman, and a swarm of Shadow Creatures, he is flying the flag for innovative deckbuilders everywhere. Michael Jacob rounds out the Top 8, running “Blue Abuse” in a field that didn’t seem to support it. No stranger to taking unloved decks to the top spot, this member of team RIW Hobbies is eager to get himself a big glass trophy to go alongside his $10K cup.
Tune in tomorrow for all of the action in the Top 8, when we’ll determine the winner of Pro Circuit Indianapolis 2005!
