Semifinals: Vidi Wijaya vs. Nick Little
Anand Khare

Game 1

Vidi won the coin flip and chose to take the odd initiatives. Both players kept their opening hands. Vidi played Sue Dibny and fetched L-Ron. Nick had The Wizard for turn 2. Characters traded stuns—L-Ron getting a little larger with JLI Embassy—and the players quickly moved to the next turn. Vidi under-dropped, recruiting Maxwell Lord in his front row alongside his other characters. He also played Justice League Signal Device on L-Ron. Nick had Joseph Jones ◊ General Glory in front of Wizard. Vidi sent L-Ron and Sue into Joseph, then took down The Wizard with Maxwell Ford and Plasma Blast. Nick lost The Wizard at the end of the turn, and Vidi led the endurance race 48–40.

On turn 4, Nick recruited Henry King ◊ Brainwave, Sinister Psionic behind Joseph. Vidi had Batman, Hidden Crusader in the hidden area. Nick attacked Joseph into Sue, and then Henry King took down L-Ron. Vidi simply reinforced for both attacks. Vidi attacked back into Joseph with Batman. Nick had Gang-Up and With Prejudice, but failed to hit. Joseph went down. At the end of the turn, Vidi chose to discard a card to JLI Embassy to recover Sue. Neither player lost a character, and Vidi maintained an endurance lead of 41–33.

Vidi led off turn 5 with Scarecrow, Fearmonger and pushed all of his characters to the front. Nick under-dropped with Oliver Queen ◊ Green Arrow, Emerald Archer behind a newly recruited Copperhead. Henry hid behind Joseph in the next row. Vidi attempted to send Sue into Copperhead, but Nick paid 2 to Oliver to KO her. Next, Vidi sent Maxwell and L-Ron into Joseph. This attack succeeded, and Joseph stunned L-Ron back. Scarecrow went after Henry, and Nick had a power-up. Before the stun, Joseph was KO’d to deal 3 to Vidi. Both characters stunned. Finally, Batman attacked Oliver with a power-up. Again, both characters stunned. Vidi passed, and Nick attacked Copperhead with help from Glass Jaw. At the end of the turn, the only characters left in play were Scarecrow and Henry. Vidi was ahead 23–13.

Both players had front-row Power Girls on the sixth turn. At the beginning of combat, Vidi’s Scarecrow moved Nick’s Power Girl’s cosmic counter to his own Power Girl. Nick attacked his Power Girl into Vidi’s and used Sorcerer’s Treasure to re-buy Glass Jaw. Both characters were stunned. Vidi gave his Scarecrow range with Rallying Cry!, and Nick conceded.

Game 2

Nick chose the odd initiatives for the second game. Both players again kept their hands. Again, Nick missed on turn 1, while Vidi had Sue Dibny. This time, Sue fetched Booster Gold. Vidi led off on turn 2 with his Booster behind Sue, while Nick had a boosted Copperhead. Vidi attacked in, and play moved to turn 3. Nick recruited Dr. Sivana behind Copperhead, while Vidi had Joseph Jones ◊ General Glory behind Sue. Booster was set next to Joseph. A few routine attacks later, Sue was lost at the end of the turn. Nick was ahead 46–43.

Vidi had the initiative on the fourth turn and recruited Ice behind Joseph. Booster stayed next to Ice. Nick played The Joker, Headline Stealer in the front row and passed. Vidi attacked Booster into Copperhead, and both characters stunned. Next, Joseph went after the Joker with help from a Rallying Cry!. Before the stun, Nick used UN Building to team up Injustice Gang, Secret Society, and Fearsome Five. Finally, Vidi attacked Ice into Dr. Sivana. With Prejudice yielded a boost of 3 ATK, but Vidi had Magnificent Seven for the power-up. At the end of the turn, Vidi lost Booster, while Nick was left with only Joker. Vidi led the endurance race, 38–34.

On turn 5, Nick played Kanjar Ro behind The Joker, who was equipped with a Quadromobile. Vidi had Fire behind Joseph, and left Ice next to Fire. Nick’s first attack sent Kanjar into Ice. Vidi had nothing, and Ice was stunned. Next, Vidi sent The Joker into Fire. Running Interference halted the attack, and that was the turn. Nick was now ahead, 34–32.

On the sixth turn, Vidi had Gorilla Grodd in front of Ice. In the next row, he kept Joseph in front of Fire. Nick had a Grodd of his own; he hid his behind The Joker. Kanjar was set next to Grodd in the support row. Vidi sent Grodd into The Joker, and Nick lost 10 endurance. Next, Vidi attacked his remaining characters into Grodd. He played Safety in Numbers to ready Fire, and Nick KO’d Kanjar Ro to steal Ice in response. Grodd went down, and then Fire took out Ice. Nick was left with only Grodd, while Vidi had Joseph, Fire, and a Grodd of his own. Vidi had established a commanding lead of 29–12.

Turn 7 was Nick’s initiative, and he had Wonder Woman, Princess Diana in front of Grodd. Vidi had Guy Gardner, Egomaniac protecting his own Grodd and Joseph in front of Fire in the next column. Nick sent Grodd into Joseph Jones. Before the attack finished, Vidi stole Nick’s Grodd. In response, Nick stole Vidi’s Grodd. Nick made the only attack he could, and it clearly wasn’t enough. Nick conceded.

Vidianto Wijaya wins and advances to the finals!
