Just a few snippets from the day’s early hours:
- Head judge Dom Pizzuto, the first judge to score 100% on the level two judge exam, suggested that players should be forced to pass a level one judge test before taking Teen Titans into a tournament. There have been rules questions stemming from just about every card in the deck, with problems ranging from issues with Tim Drake ◊ Robin’s redirection ability to timing issues involving Roy Harper ◊ Arsenal
- Having been selected as two of our five head-hunter targets, Dave Spears and Mark Slack obviously got paired against one another in round 1. With Slack’s poor draw, Spears ran him over. When asked if he’d won, Dave yelled, “Of course I won, I’m Dave @#$%ing Spears!”
- $10k Vegas champion Tim Batow is playing a four-team Rigged Elections deck. “I don’t know if I’ll win, but it’ll be interesting.”
- Contrary to expectation, Columbus champ Gabe Walls did not make the short trip. Having just opened a new business, he and Neil reeves chose to stay home to better prepare themselves for Amsterdam.
- Local Joey Catardi won his match by stunning Onslaught with Overload.
