 Kanako Kawaguchi was one of three women playing in the tournament, but she’s no stranger to TCGs, having played others for several years before discovering Vs. System last year in Game Gyaza (a Japanese TCG and gaming magazine). This was her fourth TCG tournament experience, and her second Vs. System tournament. “There really aren’t many women playing these games. When I go to tournaments I see maybe only three or four out of every hundred players.”
What teams are you playing?
Justice League International and Secret Society.
What do you like about Vs. System?
There’s not much luck involved. It’s not like other games, where you might not have the resources you need. Making a good curve and getting good drops is the key.
Do you think the number of women at tournaments will increase?
I hope so, but my friends that I usually play with prefer casual games, and maybe don’t want the pressure of tournament competition.
Do you feel a lot of pressure?
Yes, but it’s not so bad. I’m doing okay so far today. |
