Lloyd chose the odd initiatives. We were in for a slow game, as neither player had any plays until turn 3, when Lloyd dropped Graziella Reza and Dominic dropped Ted Grant ◊ Wildcat. In combat, both players flipped and activated Rann before allowing the double stun.

Dominic recruited Richard Tyler, Hourman on turn 4 and Lloyd replied with the same. Lloyd had his Hourman protect Graziella. Ted Grant swung into Richard with an activation of Rann, and Lloyd chose to use Richard’s ability to pump him up to 9 ATK / 9 DEF. Dominic powered-up his character, and Lloyd thought through his options. Finally, Lloyd flipped Deflection, exhausting Graziella. It wasn’t over for Dominic, though, as he was still able to muster I Still Hate Magic! for the double stun.

His Hourman then attacked Graziella and used his ability to pump himself up. Lloyd responded by activating Rann, playing Target Acquired and Knightmare Scenario, exhausting a newly flipped JSA Headquarters in his bid for a double stun. His gambit fell flat as Dominic flipped Forbidden Loyalties choosing Rann / JSA and putting a counter on Richard to prevent him from stunning. The endurance totals were Dominic’s 46 to Lloyd’s 39, and Graziella was sent to the KO’d pile.

This prompted a jubilant Dominic to exclaim, “A good player always has the outs!”

Lloyd’s streak of bad luck continued as he underdropped with Amanda Waller equipped with Laser Watch in the concealed area on turn 5. Dominic, on the other hand, had Black Alice protected by Richard Tyler ◊ Hourman and a T-Spheres to equip on Ted Grant.

Amanda Waller attacked Richard Tyler and Dominic activated Rann for the double stun. Lloyd’s Richard Tyler then attacked Ted Grant and his ability made him a monster at 9 ATK / 9 DEF. It was Dominic’s turn to try for a double stun, and he activated Rann and flipped Defend Yourself! Lloyd had the perfect answer, activating Rann before flipping Watch the Birdie! to negate Defend Yourself!

Given the initiative, Dominic had Black Adam run over Richard Tyler. Dominic lost Richard Tyler and Lloyd lost Amanda Waller. The endurance totals stood at Dominic’s 35 to Lloyd’s 27.

On turn 6, Dominic recruited Power Girl, prompting a “damn, your deck’s good” from Lloyd. Lloyd did not have his turn 6 drop in hand and was forced to exhaust Richard Tyler to JSA Headquarters. However, all the cards revealed were non-character cards, sending Lloyd’s mood further into the pits.

Lloyd’s only option at this point was to play Ragman, Patchmonger; Ted Grant; and Terry Sloane ◊ Mr. Terrific. His visible region was formed in an L with Ted and Ragman in the support row and Richard protecting Ted. Black Alice attacked Ted, who was reinforced by Ragman, before Dominic sent his own Ted Grant into Ragman. Power Girl completed the decimation of Lloyd’s board by taking out the Hourman, and Lloyd was forced to lose Richard Tyler and Ted Grant.

Despite his vastly inferior board position and being at a miserly 12 endurance, Llyod was still able to upkeep a semblance of a fight as he played Shazam behind Ragman on turn 7. Dominic’s luck was clearly still going strong as he recruited Kendra Saunders ◊ Hawkgirl; Blue Devil, Dan Cassidy; and Kate Spencer ◊ Manhunter; then equipped T-Spheres on Power Girl. He formed with Power Girl protecting Black Alice, Ted protecting the Blue Devil, and Kendra protecting Kate.

Ragman attacked Ted Grant and Dominic activated Rann for a double stun. Shazam then attacked Kendra and Kate reinforced. Finally Terry Sloane attacked Blue Devil with an activation of Rann to bring Dominic down to -2 endurance.

All the fight evaporated out of Lloyd and he conceded as soon as Dominic proposed an attack on Shazam with Power Girl.
