 I sat down with Sam Kwang, a Kiwi from the city of Wellington who regularly makes Top 8 at his local PCQ’s. Sam currently works as a support consultant and plays Vs. System as his game of choice. Sam was sitting pretty with a 5-1 record after round 6 and opened up his sealed packs to reveal . . . lots of Crime Lords!

At the moment, Crime Lords look good, and with the addition of Marvel Knights, the possible deck seems to be quite strong. Two copies of Spectacular Spiderman seems excellent as well. Looking through his plot twists, he also revealed a Midnight Sons and two Weapon of Choice—it seems he won’t be missing drops this round.
Upon closer viewing, Sam notices that there are no 4- or 5-drops in Marvel Knights and with Spider-Man’s loyalty he’s considering playing a different team. However, it seems it’s impossible to do that, and the solution is to add another team. A couple of offensive pumps in Bring the Pain and Crime and Punishment seem quite good. Two copies of Psychoville will ensure he won’t have trouble with hidden characters, but Sam decided against it as he had Out of the Darkness.
It seemed that Sam was missing a bit of everything. He had Roscoe Sweeny, yet he lacked Crime Lords characters in the 3- and 5-drop department. He lacked Marvel Knights 4- and 5-drops, and he will have to add X-Statix characters to fill in the drops.
Sam thinks his deck is random but seems okay, because of the searches. If his deck pulls out the curve (and most likely it will) it will give him a good chance of having a 2-1 record.
