The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

$10K Origins 2005
Metagame Staff

When it comes to $10Ks, the Indiana boys are treating Ohio like it’s their home turf. Gabe Walls took home the last $10K in Columbus, but this time it was teammate Nick Little that held up the trophy, earning the first Vs. System title of his excellent career. The Top 8 of this event was probably the best ever seen in a $10K. It featured no less than four players with PC Top 8 experience, in addition to a recent $10K winner (the very impressive Loren Nolan), Anthony Justice, and two fresh faces in Bulk Lao and Ben Weinburg.

The first opponent to fall to Little’s onslaught was literally last week’s $10K winner Jason Hager, losing in three tight games. Next up was Bulk Lao, again taking things to a third game, but then getting steamrolled by Anti-Matter and [Cosmic Conflict] smashings. This set up an epic final with Anthony Justice, who had just earned his spot in the finals by giving Loren Nolan only his second defeat of the weekend. Little took the first game of the finals on turn 5, but Justice fought back taking game 2 on turn 6, and it came down to one game to decide the outcome of the entire weekend. Little got out to an early lead in game 3, and then had just enough gas on turn 6 to finish Anthony and take home the trophy.

Congratulations to Nick Little, champion of $10K Origins 2005!

Day 2
“Daaamn it. You’re the first person to realize that you’re just going to die on turn 6 with this deck.”
“My God . . .” said Bulk Lao, frowning at Little’s opening Qwardian Council Hall. “I am already at a serious disadvantage here.”
Though both players have enjoyed successful Vs. System careers thus far, neither player has a title to his name. Yet.
Loren Nolan ended up with a Constructed-quality Manhunters deck on one side of the table, while Hager is playing a very spicy Emerald Enemies/Prison Planet/double Empire of Tears deck.
In case you missed the memo, Gabe Walls and Jason Hager are now teammates.
Let the drafts begin!
Day 1
The field is loaded for a $10K, so join us tomorrow as we bring you all the tales and tech from the Origins 2005 $10K event.
Follow Ted as he makes his way around the top tables in the final round of the day.
“I’ve won two of those games, but Dair might be better than my last couple of opponents.” Slack took a hard look at Grant and then said, “On second thought . . . ”
“When trying to build a GLC Sealed Pack, you start with Green Lanterns and Emerald Enemies, and only if you figure out that doesn’t work do you look elsewhere.”
The Battle of the Tiny Titans was how I billed this to the players.
I’m not sure if the fuzzy picture at the top here is a yeti or Justice himself, but the after-picture is Anthony’s current look as he takes his rightful place as the Paris Hilton of the Vs. Circuit.
“Yeah, I saw him shuffling Roy Harper in there earlier . . . God, spicy? My deck is more of a tangy one—spicy burns my mouth.”
I checked in with Adam while he was building his deck this morning and he told me, “I almost have it. In Sealed. You never have it in Sealed, but I’m really close.”
“We got a gooder.”
Welcome to Columbus, Ohio, the breadbasket of America’s TCG craze.
