The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017

While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

Vs. System: Year Four
Mike Hummel

Everyone knows about all the good stuff that’s coming out later this year, right? First up there’s the Heralds of Galactus expansion. Though it releases to the public in early September, you’ll be able to get a Sneak Preview of the set on August 26. If you can’t wait until then, look for lead designer Andrew Yip’s first preview article this Friday on Metagame.com.

Following that in late October are the annual Collector Sets. This year’s version will feature cards and content from the Infinite Crisis and Heralds of Galactus expansions. They’re nearly identical in format from last year’s release, and will include 2 metal deck tins, 4 booster packs, 6 variant Extended Art promo cards, and, for the first time, 130 Vs. System card sleeves. All of the above goodies come housed in a nifty magnetically sealed long box carrying case.

Next we have the recently announced Marvel and DC Gallery Packs, arriving on shelves in early November. See my recent article here for more information. After that, our Konami friends tell us that the Marvel TCG video game is on track for a late November launch. Finally, we wrap up 2006 in early December with the release of the Legion of Super Heroes set.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s take a look into the future of 2007. We’ve already announced the release of Hellboy, the first Essential Collection, in late January. Same drill as last time: if you’d like more information about the Essential Collection line, be sure to check out my announcement article here.

Now let’s get to the new stuff you die-hards don’t know about yet. The first Marvel set for 2007 will be . . . ok, let’s wow you with the packaging artwork first.

With so many iconic characters jam-packed into one amazing image, only the name Marvel Team-Up could do it justice. With the blockbuster movie Spider-Man 3 being released this year, how could we not bring back the Spider-Friends? Not only will Venom and the Sandman be battling the wall-crawler on the big screen, but they’ll also be returning to the game, along with the other villains of the Sinister Syndicate. The Ghost Rider movie also releases in 2007, and the monsters of the Underworld will rise from their graves to join the Marvel Team-Up battle. No need to worry, though. Spidey’s going to get some help from the Defenders and the mercenary Wildpack team.

So if the first Marvel set of 2007 is going to be Marvel Team-Up, it’s only natural that the first DC set should be named World’s Finest. That’s right, Big Blue and the World’s Greatest Detective return to lead Team Superman and the Gotham Knights. Opposing them will be the reappearance of Revenge Squad and the Arkham Inmates. Rounding out the teams will be the first appearance of the Outsiders.

I think you’ve had enough for now. I’m not sure if you can handle any more excitement at the moment. I have something even bigger to announce for the end of 2007, but that will have to wait for another time . . .
