Masters Series and Ratings Invites
Scott Elliott

Hello all,

With the Sydney Pro Circuit and the Masters Challenges just weeks away, I wanted to provide a brief clarification regarding a concern among our European Vs. System TCG players.

Normally, if you have 10 or more Pro Circuit Credits, you are ineligible for a ratings invite since you already have the Credits necessary to play. (This way, players don’t get PC Credits for free.) This has created a unique conflict with the European Masters Series.

Let’s say you have 10 Credits and a rating that would have merited a ratings invite. The ratings check has passed through since you already have the required Pro Circuit Credits. You then spend 5 Credits to play in the Masters Series, and now you have 5 left—but that’s not enough to qualify for the Pro Circuit, and the ratings check has already passed you by.

So, in order to accommodate players who want to play in both upcoming events, we are making a change. If you had 10–14 PC Credits and a rating of 2,750 on the ratings check date (January 15, 2007, in this case), and then you spend 5 Credits to play in the Masters, the ratings invite will apply for you if needed. This will allow players who are otherwise on the cusp to play in both events.

We hope as many players as possible are able to enjoy the fun of playing in both of these exciting tournaments.

See you in Oz!
