The Sentry™
Card# MTU-017
While his stats aren’t much bigger than those of the average 7-drop, Sentry’s “Pay ATK” power can drastically hinder an opponent’s attacking options in the late game.

The release of Infinite Crisis has caused a definite buzz around the Vs. community. With so many potentially powerful cards, many players are calling this DC’s answer to Avengers, and with Silver Age just around the corner, It couldn’t have come at a better time. We checked back in with some of Australia’s Vs. stars (including Dave Redfern, ranked second in limited for Oceania) to find out what they think of the new set and what they think the hot cards will be.
JAMES KONG
What is the most powerful/best card in the set?
My two personal favorites are The Science Spire and Mr. Mxyzptlk, Troublesome Trickster. My only real complaint is that Captain Marvel, Champion of Magic should have a restriction to only use his ability during the combat phase. My main gripe is that you shouldn’t be able to lose before you are even able to recruit.
What is the best team in Infinite Crisis, overall?
Villains United and Shadowpact. Not as a solo teams, but more in team-up deck. Coercion just earns you random good stuff. Cards like The Conclave could be really good in other decks.
What is the best Infinite Crisis team in draft?
Well, the best I’ve done is with Checkmate. I think they are much like drafting Kang or Hellfire Club. If no one else is drafting them, and it’s underestimated, then you are fine.
What do you think is the chase rare in Crisis?
Because of Silver Age, I think Blinding Rage will be really big.
Are you looking forward to Silver Age? What will be the benefits from Crisis?
Definitely. Absolute Dominance will be really great at slowing down the fast Silver Age meta. I think this will really help to make the format less weenie-intensive.
SHAUN HAYWARD
What is the most powerful/best card in the set? Crisis has a huge number of powerful cards.., and it's far too difficult to just point out one card. The four main teams all have great cards.
What is the best team in Infinite Crisis, overall? Despite all being viable, I think all of the teams are better off teamed up. As such, I would have to say JSA looks great. They can be strong while being mono.
What is the best Infinite Crisis team in draft? There seem to be a bunch of viable teams and combinations of teams. JSA is probably the deepest, while Shadowpact or Checkmate the strongest if under-drafted.
What do you think is the chase rare in Crisis? Unlike X-Men, it's not so easy here. However, Blinding Rage and Removed from Continuity are both going to be hot.
Are you looking forward to Silver Age? What will be the benefits from Crisis? Silver Age will be interesting, and I'm thinking all the teams from Crisis will have some impact on the format.
KAKAROT TURKER
What is the most powerful/best card in the set? Detective Chimp, Bobo T. Chimpanzee and Removed From Continuity. I think a lot of already established decks can benefit from these cards.
What is the best team in Infinite Crisis, overall? For Golden Age/Silver Age, the best team was Shadowpact. However, the Coercion side of Villains United (VU) is a great addition to both formats—especially when Dagger/Midnight Sons rotates out of Silver Age.
What is the best Infinite Crisis team in draft? I like Checkmate/Villains United for draft. Attack bouncing is always a win condition, as is 7-drop Calculator. Plus, VU blue is amazing . . . as is 3-drop Calculator. I could go on for ages. I've wanted to draft a JSA power-up deck with all the last-pick Donna Troys. Regardless, Dr. Fate’s Tower with a copy of each Fate Artifact is always worth the chase.
What do you think is the chase rare in Crisis? Blinding Rage and Removed From Continuity are a bit chase. However, people are still chasing Enemy of My Enemy at the moment.
Are you looking forward to Silver Age? What will be the benefits from Crisis? SA is great. I do prefer GA, but Vs. is great outside of any Modern Age. I’m looking forward to seeing the results from San Fran. |
