Round 1: Kyle Dembinski vs. Alex Brown
Nate Price

Here it is: the inaugural feature match of Pro Circuit Atlanta. This round features Kyle Dembinski, one of the best players you may or may not know, squaring off against Aussie good man Alex Brown. Kyle has a $10K Top 8 to his name, as well as multiple Top 30 finishes at the Pro Circuit level. Alex should be a household name in Vs. System as one of the most consistent players on the circuit. Both players are playing the steroid-infested Squadron Supreme deck. This matchup is very draw dependent, usually coming down to one player cementing a board advantage with a timely Panacea Potion. If both players hit their curve and draw the tricks they need, this should be an explosive match to watch. Kyle won the roll and chose to go first.

He led off with a Joystick that came fully equipped with an Image Inducer. When Alex followed with a Joystick of his own, Kyle replied with a "Nice card" and a smirk. Kyle attacked in, both characters stunned, and the players went on to turn 2. Alex got things going on his first chance with the initiative by recruiting Beetle, Armorsmith, who fetched him a Shocker, Vibro-Shock Villain, and a Thunder Jet to put on his Joystick. Kyle started dumping his hand by recruiting a Shape with a Thunder Jet of his own. Alex thought for a while about his attacks before using a Flying Kick to send his Beetle into Kyle's Joystick. Alex then sent his Joystick into Kyle’s Shape for the mutual stun. At the end of the turn, both players were left with a single character: Kyle choose to keep Shape, while Alex kept his Joystick.

Turn 3 brought a Lady Lark with another Thunder Jet for Kyle, as his near-perfect draw gave him a drop and equipment on each turn. He was down to a single card left in his hand, and he threatened to dump it very shortly. Alex under-dropped on his turn to recruit the Shocker he had Beetle’d out earlier, as well as an Angel Dust. After Alex formed, Kyle started his attacks. First, Shape oozed his way into Alex's newly recruited Shocker. He then sent his Lady Lark into Alex's Angel Dust. Those two attacks took a huge chunk out of Alex's endurance total. Alex was free to attack back with his Joystick, and managed to stun Kyle's Lady Lark. Unfortunately, Alex was now down in endurance totals 24-34, and his Joystick wasn't as impressive as the Lady Lark left on Kyle's side.

The next turn saw both players bring a Golden Archer into the fray. It was Alex's initiative, and he sent his Joystick into the Lady Lark on Kyle's side of the board. His Archer then used the other Archer as a target dummy, while Kyle's Archer saw more fit to go for Alex's face, and burned him directly for 6 before stunning. This brought the endurance totals to 13-20 in Kyle's favor. Kyle had the key Panacea Potion before the turn ended to keep his advantage going. After the next turn brought Kyle an Albert Gaines ◊ Nuke, Alex conceded to Kyle's amazing draw.

"I had the Rocket Central, too," Kyle informed Alex. "Oh well, I guess that's the way it goes sometimes," Alex sighed.
