Jonathan Koe is the only person in the tournament who has ever made money on the Vs. System Pro Circuit. His opponent, however, is nothing to be trifled with. The 18-year-old Terry Soh is an accomplished card gamer in his own right, known across the world for his accomplishments in another card game.

Both players were relaxed when they sat down for the match, but all the banter ended when Jonathan started the game by activating Optitron for Terra. Terry responded with the feared Brotherhood start of The New Brotherhood and a 1-drop, in this case Lorelei. Noticing that Terry failed to play a 2-drop, Jonathan attacked Lorelei with a freshly recruited Tim Drake, allowing Terry to reveal his second resource to be Savage Land and leaving both combatants stunned.

The board continued to grow as Terry made a turn 3 Pyro and Jonathan made Roy Harper ◊ Arsenal. Both players chipped away at each other’s endurance totals, leaving Terry and Jonathan at 47 and 35 respectively on turn 3. Terry recruited the Brotherhood mainstay Sabretooth, Feral Rage, while Jonathan activated his USS Argus and recruited the Terra that was in his hand. Pyro assaulted Terra with some help from Savage Land, leaving both combatants stunned. Jonathan did, however, have the Finishing Move to gain an advantage out of the exchange, leaving Pyro KO’d. Arsenal made a Heroic Sacrifice to prevent Sabretooth from further eating at Jonathan’s endurance. A Ka-boom hit Optitron, and Jonathan followed up the next turn with a boosted Tim Drake.

Both players kept engaging in stun exchanges, but two more Heroic Sacrifices from Jonathan left Terry with an underdeveloped board, as he had used his resources to draw cards with Genosha. As the extra turn was called, Terry launched an assault with Rogue and powered her up with Savage Land and The New Brotherhood, allowing Jonathan to Overload her. Seeing, however, that he could still win, Terry set Sabretooth on a Tim Drake, but when Jonathan flipped another Heroic Sacrifice, Terry knew that the game was not his.
