Tim Batow was on top of the leaderboard after opening the Sealed 5-0. He now had to build another sealed deck for the second half of the $10K preliminary rounds. The next four rounds, played with a new deck, would decide whether or not he made it into the Top 8. It was certainly looking good for him so far.

Tim was looking for a straightforward curve. Three or four 1- and 2-drops combined. Four or five 3-drops, depending on how many ones and twos he played (The total drops between 1 and 3 should number eight). Four 4-drops, and four 5-drops. Three 6-drops, and two 7-drops—but the 7-drops should be different, because it's more important to have two separate 7-drops so you can play one on turn 8 than it is to power-up.

The two cards I was surprised not to see in the decklist were
Rain of Acorns and
Catcher's Mitt. “I didn't play Rain because if you have the initiative, you should be able to make your attacks. Rain makes you exhaust to avoid fighting, and that's too defensive for me.
Catcher's Mitt I rarely play. Iwill play it on occasion, but there are usually better choices. I prefer more offensive cards instead of the defensive ones. I played
Helping Hand over it, basically.”
He lamented that the deck wasn't as good as his previous one, however. This deck's much worse. The other deck basically built itself. With this deck, I need to have lucky draws and hit all of my drops, without a 7-drop Sinestro or whatnot to rely on. Last time I had two
Olapets,
G'Nort, and
Arisia—who's just incredible. I prefer playing her and a 4-drop instead of a 5-drop, depending on the situation. In any type of willpower deck, she's better.”
Still, better or not, what he has isn't bad, and we can expect him to be fighting for Top 8 throughout the afternoon.
