If there’s one thing that any card game player can be guaranteed to see at a large tournament, it’s a horde of small children. Here at Comic-Con, small children are everywhere. Small children like Super Heroes and comic books. Small children also like to play card games. Mark Rassamni, from Simi Valley, California, may be only nine years old, but don’t let his age fool you—he’s taken his New Brotherhood deck to a 2-1 record at the end of round 3.
Mark got started playing games with Yu-Gi-Oh!, but switched to Vs. System as soon as it came out. His record today shows that Vs. is fun for people of all ages. Mark’s favorite deck is his own build of New Brotherhood. “I’ve only lost twice with it in two weeks,” Mark said. He mostly likes to play with his friends and against his dad, who’s playing here in the tournament today. Mark is also a big fan of Super Heroes, which made him want to play Vs. in the first place. “[My favorite Super Hero is] Martian Manhunter, because he can take over people’s bodies and control them.” And his predictions for the future? “I think a lot of people will have Superman in their decks.”
Mark’s excellent performance today is indicative of the wide appeal of Vs. System. Many people already enjoy playing, and many more people will undoubtedly enjoy playing in the future. Here’s hoping that Mark continues to do well in every tournament he attends.
