Kevin is from Virginia, and Dusty is from West Virginia. Both of these players are undefeated going into the fifth round. Kevin won the die roll and chose to take the odd initiatives.
Kevin mulliganed his opener, and Dusty kept. Kevin opened the game with Sue Dibny, fetching Booster Gold. Dusty had no first turn play, but he did have Talia, Beloved Betrayer for turn 2. Kevin recruited Booster Gold in front of Sue and equipped him with Nth Metal. Dusty passed his attacks, and Booster took down Talia.
On turn 3, Kevin could only play another copy of Sue Dibny. She searched out Ted Kord ◊ Blue Beetle, who was immediately recruited. [This play is illegal, and I did not notice it until after the game's conclusion. My apologies -Anand.] Kevin passed to Dusty, who played Enemy of My Enemy for Elimination Protocol ◊ OMAC Robot. He discarded the Robot to a Brother I Satellite, netting him a copy of Ahmed Samsarra. Brother Eye returned the Robot to his hand, and he recruited Ahmed behind Talia. Ahmed was given a Knight Armor, and Dusty passed. Kevin once again took down Talia with Booster, and then had no further attacks. In recovery, Dusty used Ahmed to replace Brother I Satellite with Checkmate Safe House. Kevin used Ted Kord to get another Nth Metal. Kevin led, 50-43.
Turn 4 was Dusty’s initiative. He recruited his Elimination Protocol and equipped it with another Knight Armor. Kevin went back to hitting drops, recruiting Katar Hol ◊ Hawkman, Eternal Hero with Nth Metal. He set up with Hawkman protecting Booster and Ted protecting Sue, then passed. Dusty sent Elimination Protocol into Booster Gold. Kevin flipped World’s Greatest Heroes, then activated Ted Kord to fetch another copy of Booster Gold. He powered-up, and with both ally powers in play, Booster was now 8 DEF. Dusty flipped Slaughter Swamp and used Brother Eye to pump his Robot’s ATK. Kevin had Magnificent Seven to power-up again, and Dusty played Knightmare Scenario. Kevin had the BWA HA HA HA HA!, so Dusty used Ahmed to replace his Brother Eye with The Science Spire. Finally, Dusty flipped a new Brother Eye to force the stun. Talia took down Ted without a problem, and that was it for Dusty’s attacks. Keven sent Hawkman after Talia, but he was foiled by The Science Spire. Hawkman tried again, going after Ahmed. He stunned. In recovery, Ted Kord was lost. Kevin led, 45-39.
On turn 5, Kevin under-dropped with Metallo. Dusty played Enemy of My Enemy for Glorious Godfrey, which he recruited. In combat, Dusty teamed-up with a Safe House and exhausted Hawkman with Godfrey. Kevin declared Metallo into Elimination Protocol, and Dusty allowed it. Knight Armor was KO’d, and Dusty used his Safe House to prevent a point. The Robot was stunned. Next, Kevin played No Man Escapes the Manhunters on Godfrey. He attacked Godfrey with Booster and powered-up from hand to stun the 5-drop. Sue was sent into Ahmed to prevent potential breakthrough, and neither player had any more attacks to offer. In recovery, Dusty used Ahmed to replace Enemy of My Enemy with another Safe House. Sue and Elimination Protocol were KO’d. Kevin still led, 36-40.
Dusty’s turn 6 involved Huntress, Reluctant Queen and yet another Knight Armor. Kevin chose not to play a resource, and used Kooey Kooey Kooey after getting 5 resource points instead. He recruited Oliver Queen ◊ Green Arrow, Hard-Traveling Hero and set up with Hawkman protecting Oliver and Metallo protecting Booster. In combat, Godfrey exhausted Hawkman. Dusty used Ahmed to get Sewer System, and then activated it on Huntress. She attacked Oliver, who went down without a fight. At this point, time was called. Neither player had further attacks. In recovery, Kevin played Hero’s Welcome for two more copies of Katar Hol, and Dusty used Slaughter Swamp to get back Fatality, Flawless Victory. Dusty had taken the lead, 30-27.
Turn 7 was Kevin’s initiative; he recruited Fire. Dusty had the slightly more impressive Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man. He flipped Dr. Fate’s Tower to get a Cloak of Nabu, and then equipped it to Spider-Man. In combat, Godfrey once again exhausted Katar Hol. Fire declared an attack on Ahmed, and Dusty used him to get a Brother I Satellite. He used the Satellite to get Huntress, and then he teamed-up with Spider-Friends to discard her and exhaust Fire. Kevin conceded.
